Has any one added 2 extra speakers to the rear decklid for a total of six speakers all together?Im going to go get some speakers this weekend i already have a total of two amps the jbl amp isnt used anymore.I also did the big three upgrade.I know the thunderbirds have the cut outs already in the back wondered if the mark did as well.My other question is what kinda amp do i need to power 6 6x8 speakers and 4 tweeters or how many channels?Does anybody have any pics of this if they did it thanks

You will have to remove or modify the rear tray. It has a couple retainers then hinges down. I took mine out completely. I am very certain there are openings but not in the shape of any speaker.

You will probably have to remove some padding too. If you want to do this right I recommend taking out the back seat. Two bolts, so thats as easy as you can get. Once the back seat is out you can work on removing the side panels. Those are not easy but not hard. With them out of the way you can pull out the rear carpet and modify it. If you dont do something to it, you will just get lows. This write-up I made a while back will help a little if you go that route.

I have four 6x9s in my rear decklid. I cut into it with a sawzall then trimed it with some heavy shears.
if i was you i would add another 4 channel amp.
i have two 4 channel amps and one mono amp for my sub. one of my four channels powers the four 6x9s in the rear deck. the other four channel powers the 2 6x9s in the doors, the 2 tweeters in the doors and i have 2 6x9s in the rear panels.

+1 on that. If you're going to cut into the rear deck lid, go all out on it. Only putting two 6x8's wouldn't really be worth the trouble. Putting four 6x9's in the rear deck would be the way to go. With that said, the side panel 6x8's could be eliminated from the hookup, giving you an extra 2 channels to work with for additional tweeters or for whatever.

i want to also upgrade the tweeters too but i wanted to know i thought they needed a separate channel or can you bridge them on the four channel

Knowing what your whole complete setup is going to be would help out. Amps, channels they have, how many tweeters do you want, what you have decided about the rear deck and rear side panels?

well right now i have 4 6x8's hooked to a four channel amp two 10's hooked to a two channel amp and the tweeters are still hooked to the factory amp i want to get rid of the factory amp thats pushing the tweeters. So what am i going to need to make everything work including the rear decklid speakers and wiring the tweeters to another amp?

Alright, if you still have the factory amp in, I would remove that, remove the entire rack that holds the factory amp. Unhook the compass and all that cell phone crap if you have it. Just unplug all of it and get it out of the way. I'm sure you know if you're going North, South, East & West. The phone don't work anyway and the factory amp sucks.

Ok, for the inside, I would get a 6-channel amp for the four 6X8's and tweeters.
Keep the 2-channel for the subs if you're happy with it. Use the 4-channel amp you already have for the rear deck lid. I would run either 0-gauge or 2-gauge wire all the way to the trunk into a distribution block that has 4 outputs on it for either 4 to 8 gauge wire connections. The block should have an input on it for 0-2 gauge wire. Ground all amps in the same location and the rest is simple, except cutting through the metal.

I have completely cut the entire metal piece out of a car before and bolted in a 1/2" plywood piece that was cut out to fit. Speaker holes were already cut out also but with the Mark, I would just cut the metal if possible. Either a jigsaw with metal cutting blades or a reciprocating saw. Put some goggles on and lay in the trunk and keep your mouth shut. It won't take long. Make sure to measure and mark correctly. Once the metal is cut, put your top layer back in and mark it from the underside and then cut it out and you're ready.
