Ok so I've been trying to finish my black interior swap in my 98. The donor interior was out of a 97. Now all I needed to complete was a black passenger airbag. So first I hit up eBay and bought the first black one I found. Shows up at the house, looked good in the box, slid it in the dash and no good. It looks like dark grey but almost a little brown. Dammit!
So then I find another local black one on craigslist. This time I check it out good and it again looks ok. He told me it came out of a gen 1 black/black. I install it and of course this one is like very very dark grey! I couldn't believe it! So my question is: Are there two different black colors?

There are 2 different black interior colors on a gen 2, but I thought gen 1 only had one back interior color.

Same black from 93-97 called Ebony. Different black for 98 called Midnight Black.

well on all 1st gen cars the air bag and that part of the dash is grey at least all the ones ive seen. there all grey.

That's sounds about right cause my 93 has black interior and grey airbag. So I need a black airbag out of a 98. Thanks for the info I appreciate it. Anyone have a midnight black airbag?

Well, if the rest of your interior came from a 97, you'd need a 97 airbag.....

right?

98 is gonna be a light shade of black than ebony...
