Thought I'd post up some pics of my bitch....

she's an '03 Premium Sport that I picked up with just 18k on the clock... noice whip

It's Tampon Red!!!! Sweet!

JK looks like the previous owner put the aluminum stick-ons but didn't put a CAI on the thing...that should be your first mod!

Nice color. Time for an LSE Grille and CAI. With your car I'd get the all red LSE tail lights as well.

Gotta love the stock 4x4 option on these cars :D

haha...the more i look at ls's with stock suspension, the more i wonder why they made the car sit so high.

i never really realized it when i had my 00 so i left it stock, but if i ever get an 06 like ive been wanting to, i think ill have to drop it.

The 00's aren't as high? And whats the big difference between this engine and say, one from an 00 V8?

Very nice looking LS! I like the interior a lot better.

Thanx guys, IMHO I think Vivid Red is the shoit

Anywho, as far as mods, I just picked up an X3 on the bay and loaded the canned tune that came with the unit. Firmed up the shifts and the downshifts come little quicker. Haven't noticed any increase in power but I really haven't put the spurs to her, the car's been just sitting for the last couple of weeks. Talked to Robert about getting one of his custom tunes, but I wonder how much of a diff. it would have over SCT's tune.

Yeah, she does have the profile of a Peterbilt, but I'm digging the ride quality, especially when you compare it to my other carriage. I would like to lower it but don't want to lose too much suspension compliance. Don't really want to go the lowering spring route (it's kind of ghetto). Any of you guys running coilovers......

And I'm def. going with bigger rims, so these stockers might be up for sale. Don't know yet, might keep em for winter shoes

Do a search and you will find all the information. Search for gen2 and gen1.

Thats a sick LS. Ford seems to like to put the 4x4 option on a lot of their cars, Mustangs are notorious for it. Since when were lowering springs considered ghetto? It's not like people who cut their springs.

Meh, coilovers are too ricer :p

There are ghetto things you can do to stock springs to lower the vehicle, but installing a set of springs specfically made for a certain drop/specific vehicle is hardly "ghetto".

Ricer or not, they strike a much better balance between aesthetics(in regards to ride height) and performance. I've put lowering springs and CO's on numerous cars and it's night and day when you compare the two. Putting springs on stock struts or shocks that were not designed for them is just asking for trouble. The problem is that you lose suspension travel when you do and troubles like blown struts and shocks are inevitable. Your also tied into a set spring rate ( unless you can find progressive rate springs for our application )so compliance becomes an issue and your ride suffers. I don't need or want this car to ride rough, I have another car to carve up canyons and go to the track with. With CO's these problems are non existent. You don't lose suspension travel so hitting the bump stops doesn't happen, you don't get the wind up on rough pavement that you do with poorly engineered springs, the rebound and dampening are adjustable on most units so you can tailor your ride to your own preferences.

Believe me, if you have the means, coilovers are a much better option.... this is coming from a sh*tload of experience

but then again... if I can't find a good set of CO's for the LS

I just might have to go

I made the "ricer" comment because it was an unjustified claim, as was your "ghetto" comment towards lowering springs. It just made no sense.

I don't need my car to ride the absolute softest. If I cared that much about the best ride comfort, I woulda bought a town car.

The LS has a coil over suspension.

What your looking for is a adjustable aftermarket set up which dont exist. We had Leda but they are no longer sold on LSK and would need to go in as a special MTO order which takes weeks to complete.

As far as the ride height, the springs we have out dont even tuck the tire and unless you are do for a new set the stock Sport shocks are by far good enough. You may need to shave the slightest bit off the bump stop for sh*ts and giggles but you shouldnt even worry about making contact with it anyway.

They could have went way lower factory with this car. At least as low as the Springs we have in the aftermarket now.

Fair enough amigo... anyways, I love the way my LS rides stock
