Well so much for having an unmarred 2000. Someone rammed into the front while I was away last week. Came home to find it pushed 6 feet back from were I parked it. Front bumper, headlights, grill are all messed up. No note, no indication of what happened just a large oil stain on the street.

Police have an accident report but will not release it until it has been reviewed (apparently happened last Wednesday). So I have to wait to see if the person who hit it has insurance, then start looking to have it fixed.

Lucky it was reported and not a hit and run.. hope it works out for ya.... hate to be a jerk, but Post some pics of the damage:gr_devil:

How in the :q:q:q:q does someone hit a parked car???

Friend of mine just came back from Germany and found VW smashed in the rear smashed!

Sorry for the loss.

If it was reported, i bet they had insurance... Im sure it will get fixed.. or totaled:shifty: .... hope for the best buddy

Only reported because an elderly neighbor called the cops when she heard a loud noise at 6 am. Another neighbor said it was a white civic which had to be towed away (saw it on his way to work). Lincoln was off the street (on the dirt shoulder) on the left side of the street, in relation to the direction of travel of the car that hit it. So the driver not only drifted off the road but across the whole street and then off the road.

I'm annoyed that I can't move on repairs until the police complete paperwork. They are claiming it takes 7 to 10 days after the accident to complete paperwork. Also annoying that a neighbor (there is no outlet from my street and there are only 20 - 30 houses that use the road and the speed limit is 25 mph) would not bother to leave a note on the car or at the house.

good luck on the 7 to 10 days

a guy decided to pass me on the right while I was turning into a parking lot, May 29, I was driving a Taurus at the time, this is what caused me to get Cricket 00/v8/ls, but his insurance company still hasn't come off of all the bucks... May, June, July, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov.

Best of luck

P.S. he was deemed to be at fault and was cited.

Got the report, his fault.

Body shop stopped writing after reaching $3500 in damage. Insurance wants to total the car. Will need to see what they will pay me, cost of getting car back and cost of repairs before deciding what to do (repair or replace).

2000 LS - Manual transmission 140,000 miles, purchased for $16,800 in 2003 with 38,000 miles.

wish it was my LS since I dont want it anymore. Sucks to hear. Atleast your neighbors took action for you and the person couldnt bail.

I had an acquaintance rear-end a police car that was well off the side of the road with all lights flashing. Apparently it is difficult to drive with an alcohol level of 0.28...

Yeah, but I had good operating, fully paid for vehicle, that I knew. Now I'll only have $4,600 to go shopping for a replacement.

That's the rub, I was fortunate enough to find my ls at an auction, needed some work but was replaced with the money the insurance came up with, plus an additional $80. Been doing the work piece meal as I can. Need functionality more than beauty at this time. BTW still haven't gotten paid for medical bills yet. (accident happened May, 2011).

You should get more than that. The plus side is you can step up to a better ls for less than you got the 2000 for back then.

You can now join the 06 crew.

Without a manual transmission I don't think I'll be moving to an 06.

I was hoping to go until 2014 then pick up a nice used ATS 4 cylinder turbo with manual transmission.

Now I'm looking at used (4 door only) - 328s, 530s, G35s and pricing repairs for the LS.

May have to consider an auto (late LS or 04 XJ8) but really do not like them.

Should decide on a path by Monday.

Have you driven an auto gen II??

At least give it a chance. Also you do have the option of using sst which is a bit like a manual especially with the reverse shift mod.

Buy BMW and never look back. Sorry gen 2 crew, but the value of a BMW is gonna hold better than an LS as long as you choose the correct model to buy and maintenance it well. And from your earlier post sounds, you are going to be very cautious about what you buy. BMW lovers will pay well for a great example of a used one and never blink.

That sucks.:( At least it was reported and you have their info.:)

I like beamers too but you won't get an 06 model fully loaded for as much as you can get the LS. It's all about bang for your buck.

I don't care how much my car is worth..i care about what it has to offer. A similarly equipped BMW comes in over 20k...same with Mercedes.

Oh....and I found that with just a quick eBay search. If u want me to dig further I could and may find another example if you like. ;)

I place great value on gen 2's as well but I whole heartedly believe you may have overstated a bit with your comparative. In this economy, deals are out there for the taking.

That's a 3 series. The LS is in the same category as a 5 series and higher.

I would not go from an LS to a smaller car with a 6 cylinder. And I mean a fully loaded 06 do that means hids, adjustable rear headrests, front and rear climate controlled seats and the thx system.

Now if I can get into a 740i then now we talking.
