Da UP eh
Every symptom my car had, from the rough idle to the hesitation and surging on acceleration to the reduced fuel mileage felt like a typical misfire to me. And I've been working on cars for a long time. But I brought the car in and all it was a dirty MAF sensor. I guess it would pay to clean that b*tch before assuming a coil is going out. Anyhoo, she's purring like a kitten (or Jaguar) again.

did you clean it yourself? did it look dirty? I hope this could help me out, I was thinking the other day it could be the throttle body since it only hesitates and jerks under light acceleration, hence the MAF or throttle may have something wrong making the computer think its not getting enough air, thanks for the tip

Edit: "But I brought the car in and all it was a dirty MAF sensor" Damm I'm sorry, guess I went cross eyed when I read that part

I would have cleaned it myself if I had thought of it first, but I was so sure it was coils and they're warrantied so I just brought it in. Of all the fuelie vehicles I've owned, I've never had to touch a MAF or MAP sensor before. IAC, TPS, O2 most commonly, but never an M. They did tell me that there's a service bulletin for it, so it would be a good thing to check first.

I'ma give the MAF and TPS a lil spray of dust cleaner hopefully it wont hurt it, last I checked though my MAF was very shinny, thanks again for the info

Good to hear the problem is solved. I usually hit the sensor with the MAF cleaner once a year. It does smooth out the engine idle and improves the throttle response.

Is it hard to access the MAF Sensor? Where about's is it located? Just got my LS a couple months ago and have similar symptoms.

In the intake tube. It has two star screws holding it in place, also has a little clip for the plug to undo.
