I didnt have much to do yesterday besides clean up the garage a little so I decided to tinker with the Mark...

On my list of things to do was:

1. Clean the windows  they were bad!

2. Fix my darn console lid AGAIN

3. Try and figure out why it acted up under hard load

Well, I just happened to have a MAF sensor from a set of injectors I had bought, and I swapped it in and was amazed at how I actually had cold start throttle response and no hessitation! And when I was driving I could stand in it and it would spit and sputter! Amazing what A MAF can do.

Secondly, My console lid broke again, this time it would pop up no matter what. I had it taped down with electrical tape for a few days. So I took the lid off and had some 5-min plastic weld, Turns out that the holes that the screws go into were split from years of abuse, and had actually broke off the lid bottom. So I had to find what bits and pieces I could and reconstruct them. I used a decent amount of epoxy but I think I finally got it. I was even able to epoxy the release button back onto it. I'm happy with it, it finally doesnt look broke!

Now if I could just get a decent set of headlights...

No, I wish I had real HID housings.. I am on a never ending search for some of those... cheap...

two things
1. when my first gen console lid kept popping open I took a pair of heavy wire cutters and removed the spring from the end of the hinge.

2. when the plastic inside the lid broke round the screw areas, I literally glued it all together with "5200" marine epoxy and it never gave me any more trouble.

Kill that spring in the lid and it'll make life alot easier.
Even if you repair it, it'll still pop open at the worst times

My elbow perfectly matched up with the button, so unless i had my elbow ON the console lid I was always hitting the button and popping the damned thing open

Amen to that brutha!
Since they "aren't cheap" people often overlook, or ignore the maf.
or will say "I cleaned it, that's not the problem"..blah blah blah.

glad you got it sorted out.

Thanks! Yeah I am almost confident that I have the console by the balls this time, I fixed it good, and let it dry all night. I yanked on it the next morning (this morning) and it didnt pop open. I used a crap-ton of epoxy on it! It better stick this time! I as excited that I could open it by the button!

As for the MAF, I did clean it once, but I had done a number of other things to the car and it seemed to run a little better, but I never could figure out what made it run better.
