doing the Cobra intake swap. What throttle cable is used?

Read Gen 1 cable is to short. Gen2 cable can be used, you flip Gen2 TB upside down. But I read the correct cobra intake thrott/cruz cable mount will not fit the Gen 2 cables. They mount on bracket different. Some just mod Gen2 bracket to intake. I have Gen 1 so I bought all Cobra stuff TB,Throttle cable and cruz cable with correct intake mount bracket .

I used my Mark cable. rerouted the cruise cable in the fenderwell so it fit better.
I modded the gen2 cable bracket to use the cable on the cobra intake with the TB flipped upside down.

the 2nd gen mark VIII throttle body and the cobra throttle body are the same throttle body, the difference between the 2 is only the throttle cable/cruise control cable bracket on the throttle body. all you need for your cobra intake is a stock gen 2 mark VIII throttle body and the gen 2 throttle cable, then you wont have to modify anything except maybe the end of the cruise control cable, or just get the end off the 2nd gen cruise cable too if you have a gen 1 mark, if you are putting the cobra intake on a gen 2 mark, then all you need is a gen 2 throttle body no modifying.
edit: going by your name its most likely a 97, if thats the case put the cobra intake on the car and use your factory throttle body, like butter!!

ok cool Thanks guys I am really looking forward to seeing how this thing runs once I get air able to to the second intake valve. (irmc stuck shut)

I should have mentioned I modded the cable bracket because I didn't have the cobra one to try.
I also kept the egr which will be going away with the new motor. If you plan on keeping your egr you'll need one for the cobra and the cobra fuel rails. If you're not then the mark rails will work fine.

I am deleting the egr and I have MMR fuel rails (they where easier than finding oe and they look cool, Plus I am on the fence about a blower...) I also don't have the cable bracket so I will make the work. The metal bracket is nothing my cut off wheel and welder can't fix but making a cable longer or what not is a different story lol

They are close but not the same. 96-98 Cobras have an outboard IAC setup so there is no IAC port in the throttle body.

i have a 03-04 cobra throttle body that came with my eaton blower and it was the same as my 97 throttle body minus the throttle cable bracket. the iac bolts to the intake not the throttle body.

I understand that the cruise just needs remounted closer to make the cable work

Yes, the 99+ throttle body on the Cobras have the IAC port to feed the IAC mounted on the throttle body just like the 97-98 Marks have but the 96-98 Cobras do not have that feed port. They take the air from the intake tube then feed a line to the IAC that is anchored on the drivers side of the plenum and then feed into it near the back side.
I remembered this as we were installing my 96-98 spec Cobra blower and realized I would have to plug the Marks T-body IAC hole so the car wouldnt idle at 3500 RPM.

99+ T-body (similar to a 97-98 Mark but offset IAC inlet port):

Closer to where a marks IAC port is located:

No, as mentioned there are a couple other openings in the fender area. The cable can be moved. Much quicker and easier to do. I had done that myself before even reading about swapping, it just seemed like the natural thing to do.

I keep reading about people modifying the gen 2 cable bracket but have never seen a pic. Given the fact that the TB is upside down and that the Cobra bracket is pretty much unobtainium, the cables will have to cross using the bracket as is. So exactly what "mods" have to be done to the bracket?
