La Canada Big Rig Accident Blamed on Brake Failure, Overloading

A runaway big rig loaded with 78,000 pounds of onions rammed into several cars in a La Canada parking lot injuring one person and almost running over another person, according to a KABC news report. The big rig accident was reportedly caused after the truck’s brakes failed and the driver, 43-year-old James Byrne, lost control of the vehicle as he got over the Angeles Crest Highway and headed toward Foothill Boulevard. He then crashed the big rig through a guard rail in front of the Hill Street Café and plowed into several vehicles in the parking lot.

Here is a popular meeting place/starting point at the bottom of the hill:

The Hill Street Cafe
1004 Foothill Blvd.
La Canada, CA 91011

Sept. 13th Sat. Tony

Here you go Jay, And for everyone else this is the place to meet 10:00 am.

See all of you tomorrow.

Remember, I was the lead car last time and almost did a "speed bump" over that guy laying in the middle of the road.

sorry guys, looks like i'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow. turns out i had plans that i didn't even know about. i might be done by like 11 or so and maybe i can head out by then. do you guys know how long it takes from the valley to this place? if you guys plan to hang for a while let me know and i might just call Artur and see where you guys are at

Yeah, give Arthur a call and maybe you can still meet us for lunch and the drive back down the hill.

Great Ride guys!

Say who closed the road to Wrightwood?

Well we didn't run anyone over!!!

Now I need Jag S-Type R wheels, lowering kit, lose the front plate, add the 4" exhaust tips, change the fog bulbs to white/white...then all will be well! :D :D :D
... and fix some dents... Tony didn't miss a thing

Cars looked good and ran good. It was fun!!

Oh yeah it was fun!!!!!!!!!! As for the missing drivers, JJ and Rick. Sorry you guys couldn't make it. Great drive except for the lady in the Rav, who wouldn't pull over and let us by. That cafe was all right too. I'll post pictures later.

Yea we had a blast driving. Me and Leo kicked some V8 butts in handling department only....lol

We should definately do it again, it was great.
