I found a set of smoked tail lights for 60 bucks. Should I go for them? Is smoked out and tinted the same thing? I dont know if to get them or just tint mine. I dont know how they would look on a pearl ls.

1

Remove the tail light covers from the car as per the directions in your car's user manual.
#
Step 2

Put masking tape on any areas of the tail light covers that you do not want to get paint on.
#
Step 3

To prepare the tail light covers to accept the tint, use 500 grit wet sand paper to smooth the tail light covers and remove any shine from the plastic so that the paint will stick properly. When you are done sanding, wash and dry the covers.
#
Step 4

Sand the tail light covers again using the 1500 grit sand paper. When you are done with the 1500 grit sanding, wash and dry the tail light covers again.
#
Step 5

Check your masking tape to make sure that it has not come loose while you were washing and drying your tail light covers. If it has come loose, place fresh masking tape on the lights.
#
Step 6

Holding the spray paint can about 12 inches away, apply paint to your tail light covers in light, even coats. If you would like a darker affect apply several light coats rather than attempting to apply one heavy coat. When you have achieved the desired darkness, allow the paint to dry.
#
Step 7

When the tail light covers are dry, apply the clear top coat to them using the same technique you did when painting. Allow the top coat to dry.
#
Step 8

Mix a small amount of dish soap with some water. Use the soapy water to very lightly wet sand the painted tail light covers with 2000 grit sand paper. Rinse the covers with a damp cloth and dry them.
#
Step 9

Remove the masking tape and reinstall the tail light covers on the car.
#
Step 10

Use an orbital buffer to polish the tail light covers to your liking.

They are gen 2 tails lights and I found them on craigslist. Do gen 2 tails fit on gen 1? I thought they didn't

You would be better off taking them to a body shop and having them professionally tinted. Im not sure what other options cost but you probably looking at $150 and you will NEVER have to work about peeling, fading, etc.

I got the guy down to 40 bucks for the set. I think I might go for and if its a crappy tint job I will still have an extra set on the cheap to mess around without being left with no break lights. 40 bucks seems like a good deal for a set to me. I'm excited.......I love craiglist now, dont know why it didn't hit me before to look there for parts. I might have found a set of hids on the cheap too. :D .I just dont want to be raped :shifty: . wasn't there a craiglist's raper or killer or something
