My girlfriend is in a situation right now that she will need a car within the next few weeks, dont want to discuss the particulars, but we are in the market for another car. I am trying to talk her into something fun, reliable, and most importantly something I am familiar with working on because I will be doing all the work to it. We havnt really made up our mind on what we are looking for yet, but have found a couple possibilities. (All this of course depending on how quickly we can sell her car)

First and most importanly this car:

95 Mark VIII
Pearl\Ivory (ugly colors, but we can deal)
76k miles
2 owner car
new tires
good brakes
clear headlights
fresh fluids

I only found a couple things wrong with it
- washer fluid pump inop
- shifted harder than it should into overdrive when cold, but smoothed out quite a bit after it warmed up

$4000

I also found a couple 03 Crown Vic Police Interceptor's.

Both dark blue, 99k and 103k
cruise in both
both have new tires
one VERY clean private owner
one pretty clean that is just coming out of service

Both $3500

Im really trying to stay local this time (drove 6 hours to get the Sport) or at least in the state.

I have also thought about a 98+ Town Car, or 98+ Continental, but cant find anything nice locally.

Any suggestions or advice?

The car would be for her, so she wants something pretty nice in the $3-5000 range.

Well I have a beater now, its a VW and I am having to relearn EVERYTHING.

But when the new engine was going into the 96 I have a 95 Mark VIII beater that I literally drove into the ground (ball joint failure, grave driveway, full reverse at WOT :) ). Anyway, the nice thing was that if anything had an issue I could fix it or, since I knew the solutions, I could decide to let it go knowing its nothing critical. My VW is doing goofy stuff and I am not sure if I should fix this or that or wait til spring, etc. With that 95 I knew what I could just let go.

If you go with either of the 03 Vic pull the center cap and check that each rear axle shaft has green paint in the center of it... if it doesn't its the pre recal 03 shaft that goes bad... its an expensive repair when it does.

Ok I def will. Thanks Brandon.

She just called me and told me she found a couple Bonnevilles she likes but Im sick of Pontiac already. lol.

That vic looks sexy too.... I think thatd be my pick.... its newer even if it does have more miles on it.

As an 02 Vic owner and a Mark VIII owner... I would be more comfortable putting someone who doesn't know cars into a Vic.

Vic=old person car... At least that's the way MOST people view them.

I wouldn't look to put her into a vic... not very matching for a woman without blue hair! (Some here will object I'm sure)

Mark or an LS (might take some upkeep though; depends if your lucky or not)... or maybe a Focus; better on gas.

hay my fiance now drives my old Town car and she is falling in love with is as a DD and what is wrong with people viewing a cars as an old persons car if it means the cops look the other way

Don't expect the cops to look the other way if you get a Police Interceptor.... I've found it attracts more attention for the police than less...

Ummmmm - Mark VIII!!!!! is that even a question!!!!!

Trust me.... once she gets a nice night in her mark, you may jealous (wont be the first one... ;)~~ )!

Chicks dig Mark VIII's

My wife loves her 98, so much so that she won't part with it. We had an 03 Eddie Bauer Explorer that she sold in favor of her Mark. SHE told ME "they don't make cars like this anymore" & she's right.

Well we just took a deposit on her car tonight so we need a decnet car ASAP. The 3 above are still possibilities, but we are still looking for more car for the $. I have a couple in mind, but we will see what she says. lol. Ill let everyone know what we end up with.

You can get a lot of car for your money with the PI... and that 03+ interior is way nice.

What's nicer about the 03+ interior? I looked at a couple on eBay and they look the same as my 02.

And what's different with the steering?

And one last thing... do you know if they ever fixed the :q:q:q:qty white paint that peels on the C pillars?

The 03+ cars came with tan or black/dark grey interior.... where 98-02's came with blue, light grey, tan....

After sitting in quite a few different PI's the 03+ colors are much more appealing than 98-02's....

The steering wheel, cup holder, and seats are much nicer, but that's just my tastes.

my wife lent my dd mark out for the weekend to a friend whos car died, heard it was coming back tonight with the check engine light on :(

got in it to go to town to return movies and boy started it up chug chug chug, got it out on 301 and floored it got 3 shifts and it smoothed out still have the high idle issue now and again not really sure were to start on the repair
