Do to the fact that i bought the first mark i saw im unsure if this is normal...

Is the shifter kinda hard to slide through prnd21 on all marks.. It's prob the hardest i've ever shifted on any car....

The shifter is real hard on my red Mark. I thought it was normal until I bought my green Mark which is real easy.

I took the console out and disconnected the cable from the trans and found it's the shifter cable that is causing the hard shifting. I haven't replaced it yet.

Maybe try squirting some penetrating oil down into the cable? Failing that, give Max at 5 Star Ford a try.

YOu can lube the shifter rails, but you can also put too much on them so be careful. You may also want to lube the MLPS on the trans. I doubt its the cable, its REALLY short.

how?

Oh boy... if you have to ask... hehe

Remove shifter bezel, you should see the shifter rails where you can add just a LITTLE lube, work it and add more as needed. I went over kill once and that damn thing slide all over!

Look under the car at the tans, driver's side. You will see where the cable goes to. Lubricate with a spray, preferably silicone. You may also want to look to see the color gasket. If its not red, that bugger needs to get replaced at some point soon or you may have shifting problems.

Mine is the cable for sure.

I had the cable disconnected from the trans, so the MLPS was not even involved. I thought it was the rails at first, and cleaned and lubed them, but I can tell from the little bit of play in the cable connection to the shifter that it's the cable. The little bit of play is very easy, but when it starts pushing or pulling on the cable it's very hard.
