Shift kit

How many people in here have a shift kit? What kind is it?
 
i have a factory-tech shift kit, from www.supercoupeperformance.com
i love it, it chirps second easy and i took out the 2-3 spring so that hits hard to.
i have yet to take it to the track but i will tell you this. if u have doubts, dont do it. this 85.00 part cost me 1300 dollars in the end
 
Thats cute, I can do that in 3rd - must need new tires! lol I personally have and would do a JMod over any shift-kit. But super-coupe I am sure know s what they are doing, so either really. Google the brand and get feed-back, the internet is great for that :)
 
I currently have a Trans-Go (no go if you ask me) sh!t kit in my car. Now, I am not sure what level the Trans-Go sh!t kit was set at because I purchased the car with the tranny/kit already installed. Also, the person that had the tranny rebuilt had a performance chip installed as well. He told me and I verifiied that it worked great, but with just the sh!t kit there is NO performance at all with it.

Now, I have had the Baumann shift kit in my car and would never do anything else. I know of ppl that have the J-mod done and love it, but what is good about Baumann engineering they offer other things that you can upgrade your current tranny/valve body to the bigger/better 98 model that has all the supposed bells/whistles installed from the factory. Of course it costs a lil extra, but insurance well spent. Also, those of you that do not intend on performing the step yourself it will cost almost as much if you just bring them the shift kit and any other parts that you plan on replacing when you do so.
 
What does the Baumann kit do that the Jmod doesnt? Does the Baumann kit include an aftermarket valvebody that would require no drilling?
 
I would think it would not, as the valve body requires no drilling in the first place for a JMod.

its the seperator plate so you have to take apart the valvebody.


jmod here. wouldnt go for anything else. took a friend out who raced for years and he was very impressed with how civil it is at low loads but how snappy it was at WOT.
 
The reason I put up this post is because i am looking for a shift kit. My friend has used nothing but trans go and so far he has loved it. What sites can i find the JMod and the Baouman shift kits at to purchace?
 
I read through a lot of both installation manuals, they are both modifications to the separator plate, but what differences are there?
 
The separator plate is modified to make larger openings to reduce pressure and make quicker shifts. So both kits do the same job. It would not surprise me if the Bauman kit is simply the same work done as a JMod. The differance being:

Bauman - buy and install
JMod - homemade, but we know for sure designed by Jerry, and engineer of the transmission we use.

So if the Bauman kit IS the same drill specs ad the JMod, then go for it and save the labor and the need to buy new drill bits. Or do the JMod yourself, which saves money, build experience. The JMod is easy to do, all your doing is drilling holes larger, they holes are already there. No work is done to the valve body although new vulcanized checks ball would be a good idea.
 
Note: Darrin I think may sell a separator plate already modified to JMod specs.
 
If so, no brainer then. JMod, save the $ for replacement accumulators if needed. The JMod is one of the easiest things I have done, it LOOKS intimidating as heck, but in the end its straight forward and easy to do.
 
just do the accumulators anyways. you gotta pull them out and they are cheap.
 
Those who have done either the Baumann OR the Jmod wouldn't do any other.

Simple as that. :drunk:
