She's finally coming home "ROAD WORTHY"

Hey im just telling you what the ASE book teaches us
Maintains optimum engine operating temperature for best emissions and economy.

in a generally speaking, under the conditions I described above that could be a true statement.

but in a modern EFI car there is no need to preheat the incomming air charge if the atomized fuel is injected into the cylinder.

a 10 degree drop in manifold air charge temp is worth 2%HP

dropping the air intake charge 20-30 degree's is a 16-20HP kick in the butt, feel free to "run your motor hot, and give up HP"

and before anyone says "cold engines wear out faster".
I ran grandmas car for over 300K on a 160 degree thermostat.

Thats cool, live in the shadows man!!! LOL Like i said before i didnt belive it either intill i did the test first hand with all the scan tool hooked up to a engine trainer in my engine repair class last semester.

So an "I saw it happen so I'm right" response rather than any facts or logic. Thanks.

Because on the bottom of the thermostat is a washer looking part, that is what forces the water into the radiator.. without it.. the water CAN just recirculate itself thru the motor.. never reaching the radiator.

Alright, now this makes sense, thank you. I've honestly never looked too closely at a thermostat/housing.

I guess you didnt read the facts and logic i posted in the post before that??? I was simply stating belive what you want to and the fact i once believed the exact thing as you intill i saw it happen and was showed the facts on why it happens.....the same exact things i posted BEFORE you must not have read.
