Seafoamed my 1996 LSC... video

Did the seafoam really make it run any better? Smoother idle or what? I have thought about using seafoam but not sure if I should since There aren't any problems?? Thanks.

Seafoam is fun because of the smoke show but I wouldn't bother using it unless there was a problem that introducing a solvent into the intake could solve (like maybe stuck IMRCs or something.) GM Top Engine Cleaner is better for those sorts of things anyway.

i so what to do the seafoam treatment one day. probably before my next tune up. which is next month! so hopefully soon!

I think it does a good job for the price of a can and the ease of doing it. I've done my maybe twice and my lady friend's 95 Firebird T/A once and she thought that it ran like a new car, do it.:)

my IMRC's were stuck and this fixed it. now it rus much better. no more check engine light. no problems using it at all.

yes it's much smoother idle and cruise. more power and I picked up a couple miles per gallon too.

I might give it a try then, She runs great but the idle probally could be smoother and the mileage could always be better!!!!

Ive used it twice, honestly I cant say that I've seen any improvement really. I thought I did at first but that was just my imagination kicking in.

but what i do know is, if you plan on racing anyone anytime soon, DO NOT USE IT. I was running consistant 15.4's then i used seafoam and ran an embarasing 16.1 ewwwwwww but it wore off after a while :)

I had the check engine light come on about a week ago. and was getting about 15 MPG now it's getting 17 in town.

My neighbors would lose their freakin minds at that smoke. Although I do think its cool. :)

I did the seafoam thing yesterday, It smoked like crazy. Afterwards I took her out and really romped on it!!! Haven't driven it since. I'm hoping that the fuel mileage might improve a bit. I will post if it helps.

What is this seafoam stuff and how do you use it? Somebody send me a link or something, it sounds like I could use some of this stuff.

You can buy it at autozone for $6.99. It is supossed to remove carbon build up from your engine. This is my first time using it. People seem to speak very highly of this product though.

It's easy to use, you just pour it through a vacuum hose like the brake booster. The can says you can add it to the crankcase and in the gas tank, but I really don't think it'll do anything there (maybe help a ticking lifter or something, but not on our cars.)

I still maintain it's pointless on an engine that doesn't have problems. I also maintain that GM Top Engine Cleaner available at any GM dealer will work a lot better if you do have a carbon buildup problem.

BTW here's what's IN Seafoam:
PALE OIL .01 68 40-60%
NAPHTHA 10 68 25-35%
IPA 33 68 10-20% (This is either Isophthalic Acid or Isopropyl Alcohol)
CARBON DIOXIDE 38650 60 3-5%

instructions

the easiest way i have done it was to pour about half the can in a cup and then start the car and pull the brake booster vacuum line. i then slowly insert the line into the fluid and when its almost empty really sink it in the sea foam and let the car stall, if it doesnt stall turn it off as quick as possible. allow to sit 10 to 15 mins then go drive it hard. it will smoke the first few times then slowly dies out. car might run noticably better. i did it and it does help if your car runs a little off. this coupled with a tune up never hurts

I Seafomed my Mark Today Too!

Well I seafoamed my Mark today with my daughter behind the wheel giving it gas. I test drove it afterwards, and I have to say, Wow, what a difference!

Do you guys think that the smoke is caused by the seafoam itself? Or do you think that it's the actuall carbon build up being broken down?

Haha pour some oil in your intake and see if it smokes. Yeah my guess would be that the smoke is mostly the seafoam itself.
