Alright I put a pint of seafoam in the tank of my 97' Mark Viii LSC and filled her up... I was wondering should I repeat this or do you think one can is enough... i don't wanna burn anything up?... I don't know how safe this stuff is... I know it's suppose to be really good for it... but yeah...

Also I hear you're suppose to introduce it into the intake... what's the best way to do this?... the PCV hose sounds like it's the winner but what does it look like and where's it located?...

Sorry I'm sure these are dumb ??'s... I just don't wanna mess my car up!!!... thanks for the help!!!
 
cough... cough...

yeah did it this weekend... put one can in the tank... put the other through the PCV hose... sucked though... couldn't get it to pop loose at first... then my friend was like it's over here!... Ha!!.. I felt stupid... I had the right hose... just pulling the wrong end :)... but yeah not as much smoke as I anticipated... I only used a 1/4 can though... figure I'll slowly keep doing this over time... don't wanna gum up my engine!...

side note we did it to my friends honda... holy!!... talk about some stinky smoke!!... there was a lot of it too!!
 
The more smoke, the more carbon being set free! The less, the cleaner the car.

Just remember to do it when the car is up to FULL operating temp, the hotter the better!
 
Been thinking about doing this just before i do my next oil change. (wouldnt want to contaminate good oil) I decided 3 am is a good time to avoid the grumpy neighbours! :shifty: lol. Might use abit of ATF as well, for good measure.
 
ATF I would not use in this engine. Keep in mind you need to rev it a lot - so 3am may not be the best idea :D

I have heard a small amount of ATF run directly before an oil change can be good for cleaning. (just 1/2 qt say for a few mins) If its no good in our engines then shant bother. The 3 am thing is good for me cos i live in appt complex and its a nice big car park. Just dont want anyone seeing the smoke and reporting me! lol.
 
ATF is good for carburated engines, not EFI. In essence the ATF fluid mixes with the gas and air. WIth EFI, it will not mix since the gas is injected near the piston. I guess what can happen is the AFT may pool at the bottom of the intake.

Im lost. I meant drop abit of oil, add abit of ATF to the oil then run the engine to normal op temp, then drain. (so the ATF acts as a detergent) Did u think i met put it in the intake with sea foam? No no no...
 
Ah, gotcha. I was really common to use ATF like Seafoam via intake. And since we were talking about Seafoam I assumed thats what ya meant.

ATF in oil is fine. You can even put Seafoam in there. Put on maybe 100 miles, you need to work it through really well.
 
You can use ATF in the oil or diesel, as long as they are not under load.

Outside of Seafoam, you can use a spray bottle with water to steam clean the internals of the engine, old school style. I admit, that I am not 100% sure if it will negatively effect the cats.
 
Lol! Glad we got that cleared up! :) I cant say i have heard of ATF being put in the intake, but we learn something new everyday. Im not that bothered really, its just i got spare ATF hanging about the place and figured i could put some to good use when the time comes. I wouldnt drive with it in there, just let it idle for a few mins then drain. That water idea is a new one on me also... lol.
