On earth.
Did some searching, read a lot of old threads and just really wanted some opinions.

After having lived with the a tuned LS for a little bit are you satisfied? If you could go back and do it again would you? Has anyone had any issues with their tunes? Has anyone used these so called "Economy" tunes and if so are there any worthwhile gains there? Also, to be clear my feet are firmly planted on the ground with this whole tuning idea but do we even have a baseline hp/tq increase on these things?

Just general experiences, good or bad, about to pull the trigger on one.

Thanks in advance.

I am satisfied with mine from Torrie. When I got everything I set in the 'aggressive' tune and never looked back, so I can't tell you anything about the others. The tune itself isn't going to make the car that much faster, but the transmissions shifts are better. I also have enjoyed the added ability to use the tuner to pull CEL codes which has come in handy a couple times. Overall I would do it again.

Here is what he told me about the HP increases.

I would go with it now there isn’t any real reason to wait. Generally we get 10-20whp and the changes in the transmission function make the car so much more fun as well.

Take care,

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression these transmission weren't anything to write home about in terms of durability. Any concerns there?

The most common issue I see people complaining about in terms of the trans is having the solenoid pack go. I have had no issues with mine.

I'm really not sure how changing some of the shifting points would cause any issues with the trans durability. Maybe someone with further incite can chime in.

I have had pretty much the same exact experience as Bull, except i did experiment with the other tunes. I liked the middle tune the best as far as drivability goes, but when your out at a light, you can't beat the aggressive tune. Thats why i always have it on.

I'm sure i'm putting more wear than normal on my car, but i dont exactly drive it as the law dictates, sorry Chris :shifty: I plan to drive it like that until it dies, then its engine swap time

I'm sure if you drive it properly and push it occasionally you shouldn't have a problem.

I did have to replace my tranny about a year after i got my tunes, but i cant say the tranny was working too well before that either.

Ok, just because this thread is up and running and I have a question....anyone with a GenI with the tune...does it help that annoying 1/4 throttle before it does anything.

Can Torre fix that with the tune?

I love the "aggressive" tune from Torrie in mine. Of course, my standards are a little different than most. I own 7 cars, every one of them has an aftermarket tune and I would not have it any other way.

My wife noted that after install of the tune from Torrie the car really feels like a "hot rod lincoln" rather than a sedate sedan.

I like my tune and wouldn't run stock again. It actually woke the LS up more than I thought, and the added line pressure for the tranny makes for much better shifts.

Can I use this to flash my ls with a custom tune? Im new to custom tunes.

Agree with Bull. I went with the most aggressive tune w/ Torrie. He had to dial in a few things. I had minor pinging from 5k-6k rpm and he need to re-engage "torque reduction" as I was getting a little bit of lashing from 2nd to 3rd shifts. Took a couple of tweeks but after that I have been go to go for years.
