Yup, more n00b questions. I have a laptop that I can run the ACT software on to get live feed. Actually I had the laptop for a while, just forgot it could also run Windows (its a Mac).

So today I am going to set it up.

To check fuel/air rations, what are some good values to check? Economy is not bad, but exhaust stink and I just cant dial it in. I know a WB would be better for this. But I am hoping that by reading things live then making adjustments on the road I can dial things in A LOT quicker than playing on the computer and data logging - all that is a real turn off.

You mean that you are not using a Wide Band now for Data Logging or monitoring?

"I know a WB would be better for this."

Nope. Not in the mood to drop $400 on a car that I really may not have much longer. Just want to work on getting fuel economy at peak and performance decent.

Hmm... what is the current version of LivLink? I think I have 4. I am downloading 5.1. But is it up to 6?

I know there are issues with transferring files from the device, but I am just going live.

cant get any useful data from the oem 02's...

you can datalog stft and ltft and get in the zip code, but your not gonna get it very close without wbo2

you'll have to turn adaptive learning off to even do that
what advantage version are you running?

if you are on adv 2.9 DO NOT install LL5 or LL6!!!!!!

the newer live links are for 05 and up cars

plug the xcal to the laptop and the car and use LL4 to datalog to the laptop

^ Thats cool. And yes, I am like the King of soldering. I do micro soldering on computer motherboards by hand. Thats a neat kit! Will look into!

Ok. So I have LiveLink up and running but ran out of drive space for Advantage III install.

Anyway. Could someone please give me some "nominal" readings I should be getting. Thats right bitches, spoon feed me! :)

Full operating temp:
IAT reads 359 (what that value is, no clue)
Intake Temp 120 (need to get a cold air setup I see, unshielded conical bad idea)
Air Charge is pretty steady, very steady actually at 118 to 120
O2 sensors swing up and down from 0.066 to .8. They are, for the most part, in sync with each other.

Those were just some quick things I read to make sure its up. Going to go for MAF ad counts, etc later today. I have a 3 hour drive to datalog all I want. But it would be nice to know some "normal" readings so I can compare and make sure sensors are up to snuff.

are you datalogging STFT or o2 voltage?

log stft instead

my act is 8-12 degrees above ambient in traffic
usually within 2-3 going down the road

ALSO
having an exposed conical causes some goofy stuff to happen to the maf signal due to the pressure of the cooling fan, not only temperature is concern, also fan wash/pressure

can you post your datalog .csv file?

if you look in the live link help section
it gives you a list of useful things to log

I log

ACT
ECT
MAF AD counts
load
knock sensor retard
spark advance
spark source
RPM
STFT 1 and 2
LTFT 1 and 2
Vehicle speed
Vehicle accleration rate

O2 sensors swing up and down from 0.066 to .8. They are, for the most part, in sync with each other.

from the LL help file

Ford Fuel Trims

When you are at wot you should be in OPEN loop.

Short term trims at WOT display the fuel that you are commanding in the base fuel table

or cold fuel table if certain timers/ect temps are not met.

Example for Closed Loop Operations.

Short_Term_Fuel_Trims

ST trim = .86 Then the pcm thinks the mixture is too lean. ADD 14% fuel

To fix this you would add fuel…do this by increasing the MAF curve in that area.

ST trim = 1.14 Then the pcm thinks the mixture is too rich. Remove 14% fuel

To fix this you would remove fuel....do this by LOWERING the MAF curve in that area.

Long_Term_Fuel_Trims

LT trim = 1.14 Then the pcm thinks the mixture is too lean. ADD 14% fuel

To fix this you would add fuel....do this by increasing the MAF curve in that area.

LT trim = .86 Then the pcm thinks the mixture is too rich. Remove 14% fuel

To fix this you would remove fuel....do this by LOWERING the MAF curve in that area.

2) Verify that your 02 sensor fuel trims (both LONG and SHORT Term Trims) at idle,
are within 10% of ZERO and each other.

I send the file via e-mail. I did not look over the log much, it may have some dead zones or something. It was just a test run.

And the O2s are about a year old, but they are Bosch crap sensors.

set up a config as described above

i'm looking at your log now... not much to see.

but damned good practice setting up and configging logging

dont see anything uberbad so far.

can you grab another log...pretty soon or is it hours away?

when you do log.. try to get 1 or 2 WOT 1-2 shifts
and some steady state driving in 3rd and 4th gear

I wont be able to get a log until tonight, after 4pm central time. And then I probably cant get anything to you til Monday.

Thanks for the help.

And this live logging is no much nicer and time productive. Not to mention I am not restricted to that dang 30 second record window.

I will setup as above and get some WOT and plenty of highway driving in 3rd and 4th.

Will do. I will tonight if the place I go to has internet. Sorta heading to the back woods of southern Wisconsin.

i got your email, i havent opened it
its freaking 9 megs?
holy shcrap
