Hi all,
I just wanted to introduce myself as I just registered yesterday, and bought an '00 LS8 non sport last Friday. Sort of a silver tan? Not sure of the proper color name. I bought it from a friend that I've been in school with for two years. 123K on it, and I paid $6500.
I have an H3 also right now, and my last 3 vehicles were two Altima 3.5SE's and an SE-R. The SE-R met an untimely visit with a ditch, and $7K later I decided it was time to "slow down....."
I'm glad to find you all here, because the other Lincoln related forums I've found were pretty dormant. I was really active over at www.altimas.net/forum (same S/N) and hope to learn a lot here. Over there was was telling/explaining, here... I think I'll be asking!
Hardware and mechanics are always more important, but my first question is sort of superficial-- related to what I'd call the annoying/inadequate cup holder in the 00. I searched and didn't find anyone mentioning it. Has anyone modified it to be a single, bigger cup holder? Any drop in replacements or mod FAQ?
I bought this car as something to drive to work, a little fun but really to avoid the dents & scrapes on the H3. People I am with keep opening the doors into metal poles, scraping along the side, etc. Not that it helps that I know who did stuff, it still happens....
So far I've ordered replacement headlamp assemblies, fogs, K&N and new floor mats. The front lenses were so scraped up they almost looked hazed, and the right one had the notorious water leak. Overall, the paint, and especially the front bumper of this car is in better shape than my Altimas were at 12K. The paint is super soft on nissans, or the plastic that the front bumper is made with, or something.
I need a sun roof in the worst way, and it doesn't have one, so I'm thinking about that. The back bumper has a few scrape ups that I may consider getting fixed. A tiny bubble spot on the corner of the trunk lid near the bumper, and a spot on the hood. Other than that, the car seems to be in great shape.
Planning on giving it more of a hardware once over and refurb if necessary when I finish and graduate my MBA program (8 days).
I'm starting to ramble here, so anyway..... It's nice to be here.
