So ive noticed for that last couple of days my car seems like its been running quite hot. not quite overheating but it gets close. the needle is right ubder the last white line. im not sure what it could be. the thermostat possibly? i checked a few pervious threads but all those talked about actually overheating. i also thought it could be the heat but its onyl been in the mid 90s latley so that didnt seem to be it. Any thoughts. or is this a normalrunning temp and i just havent ever noticed or is it too high. thanks in advance

yea thats what i thought, my coolant was pretty low when i checked this morning but it doesnt seem to have done anything after filling it. and my coolant bottle has been replaced a few months back so there isnt a crack in it. so maybe my thermostat is going out. thats my only guess.

Run the engine to normal (or above) temperature, then squeeze one of the bigger radiator hoses. If it squeezes (isn't hard to press), then you have a pressure leak somewhere. If so, that has likely allowed air into the system, and that is the main cause of the overheating. You will need to find and fix the leak.
On my 04, one of the smaller hoses just pushed itself loose once. (The spring clamp wasn't holding tight enough.) I had to put a screw type clamp on to hold it.

What I think is BS is that mine overheats on hot summer days in sport shift mode. I mean temp guage agreeing with the alarms that show and the coolant smell. I'm not talking about hard driving, just slow inner city traffic. Dealer said it was a normal expectation. Doesn't do it in auto, just in sport shift mode. What a crock.

You have a leak somewhere then, and it will have to be fixed, and the air bled out.
damn, that sucks. it sucks even worse because im not even at home right now. im in cailfornia till september so i dont know of any good honest shops around here that will actually help instead of trying to get me for every penny i have. but probably every shop in california is gonna be like that due to their current economic state. anybody know of any decent shop in citrus heights ca? or around sac?
and alo wheni take it in do i say i need to check my pressure system for a leak? is that what its called.
honestly couldnt tell ya, all they said was they ran tests and said all the hoses were fine. so he recomended replacing the thermostat and i thought that was a good start being ive had the car for about two years and havent dont it myself and have no knowledge of it ever being replaced. and he also is flushing my radiator to check for any plugs. so we will see if that works. and by the way thanks for your help man

Mine is noticeably hotter after some driving in SST too.
probably because if your driving in sst then your not driving like a granny. i know i would be having fun if i had that.

Even when you aren't, it's still noticeably hotter.
