Anyone done it before? I have the newer version, installed about 3 years ago. Just lookin to see if anyone has done it and been trouble free.

I had it done to me, and so far it seems okay.
The o-ring on the VCT solenoid on bank 1 was leaking so I asked the dealer to change in and the VCG on that side. (This was at a little over 100K miles.) When I picked it up, they only changed the VCT o-ring and reused the VCG. I am still a little annoyed. I've now seen some slight seeping of oil in the #3 well, but not enough to pool and reach the spark plug.

Alright thanks. Maybe I'll just try to get the o-rings if possible

had mine off a few times as well. If you're a Gen1 and have the 'improved' gaskets already - should be no problem.

Alright thanks Quik! I'm a gen II (03) I had the crap gaskets and replaced them with improved a while back.

I have the "improved" gaskets and they seem reusable. Good compound--I would just be sure to re-silicone the joint where the timing chain cover meets the block.
