For those of you who have reprogrammed your transmissions shift points to have firmer shifts using an Xcal what is your overall impression?

Have you had any problems with the shift points not engaging correctly?

Does it feel like your transmission is going to snap off of the mounts?

Is there a noticeable improvement in the cars over all performance as far as acceleration from a dead stop?

If there’s something you’ve experienced negatively with the reprogramming of your transmission using an Xcal please feel free to post.

No problem with not engaging.

At first the program was too harsh and I had Torrie back off on pressure on some of the points, I do most of my driving in town.

It really improved the 2nd to 3rd shift, more positive.

I have reloaded program and made my own small adjustments with success.

My 2nd gen fly by wire throttle was improved greatly, very responsive.

I have adapted a different driving style by shifting with throttle.

Overall the combination of CIA and Xcal tune was the best performance up grade with an estimated 30 hp gain for both.

Thanks for the feed back gcwimmer, I have an CAI, exhaust and an Xcal 3 with tunes from Torrie and he stated in a email to me that one of the tunes have harder shifts. I’m thinking about uploading that option once I get of off work today.

Shift firmness and shift points are two different things. Torries tunes wouldn't let me adjust shift points, I had the access to it but it didn't work.

ILLS tunes everything works in the user adjustment end.

As you increase shift pressure the shift point comes earlier. So with Torries aggressive shift tune my shift points were way to early but I couldn't move them back to were they should be.

I have dialed in good with ILLS tunes for all shifts.

I cant wait till my tuner come's in Ordered from ILLS, I'm hoping it takes the governer off

Are you hoping it kills the 135 mph governer? or that damn "P - N" asmatic 3k Rev limit?

If your talking about the rev limiter in P-N then your going to be sad... I was :(

Its bad enough you can't rev it past 3k rpm.. but it somehow takes 5 seconds to get to 3k from 700rpm..

Thats one thing the 1st gen guys get to enjoy that us 2nd Gen owners don't get. How I would love to hear my exaust minus engine roar and wind noise at 6k rpm.

awww well i was hoping for 2 birds and 1 Xcal =( Is there any way to get that damn P - N limiter off?

where in el paso are you? i was stationed there and bought my LS at shamaley ford on the east side.

I live pretty close to there. Off of George Dieter on Glen Campbell. I'm stationed at Ft Bliss, but in Korea right now. Actually I go back on Midtour in 2 days. If there was a way to get rid of that limiter I would have by now.. maybe someday someone will figure it out.

I'm in Kuwait I go on Midtour in november and got plenty of new things to put into my LS, i'm looking forward to it.

Where in Kuwait? Been there a couple times last was in 02-03 for OIF 1, I think we started in Al Jabber then went to Arif Jon.

Yeah, I'm a 14t. But 2/43 likes to treat this deployment like ft.bliss it sucks so bad rofl, it's all good though only a few more month's, then back to good o'le bliss

Trust me.. I know exactly how you feel. They act the same way about everything in Korea. Sometimes compare it to Iraq. ADA bleh! lol

oh, I'm a Launcher Dog too. HEY! looks like there will be an LS meet in Hellpaso next summer!

Yeah as long as i decide to drive my car back from NY to HellPaso, I'm definatly there. BTW from El-Paso to NYC was the crappiest drive I ever done by my self.

Well, I hope you do. Could have fun out at the new dragstrip East of town. I need to get off this forum for now and go check on my guards at the tac site. I was just coming to get my laptop lol.

lol, good idea. Im glad I never had to do gate guard yet, and i pray i dont have to. well take it easy.
Sry for goin off topic :P

the user adjustability is something the person creating the tune can build into the tune for you - so if you want it as part of the tune then you simply ask for it.

There is nothing good about bliss... Spent 3 months there when I deployed with the national guard; what a hell hole. Gave active duty a bad name... nothing like the active side I'd experienced before.

I just up loaded the pre-set firm shift file from the Xcal and MAN!!! IT FEELS AWESOME! I have more response from acceleration at a dead stop and faster on the throttle response once I get going! Don't really feel any real hard shifts though.
I may still put in the shift kit just cause that whole transmission working harder thing is in the back of my mind and now with the program I feel like it's telling it to work even harder.

On another transmission note you guys that run into your transmissions over heating what's the issue with that? Are you guys running a stiff/hard shift program or is it just the transmission giving out on you?
