So I'm looking at the possibility of having to drive my Mark in the winter next year.... and at that thought I would really really like having the seat heater working on the drivers side. I know how to strip down the seats but I'm just curious if anyone has actually replaced the heating elements with the new and improved carbon fiber ones?

I'm gonna assume you got the same :q:q:q:qty element i got in my conti. I fixed mine. The design flaw was the heating element wire was to rigid for daily use running under the support bar. I was going to replace mine aslo. After i got it apart i decided to fix it seeing the hog rings looked like they were gonna be a serious problem. I redid what i have in the pics with a flexible speaker wire on both sides, then soldered and eletrical taped them, then cut the foam a little bit deeper to keep the wire from riding on the bar. I also added a piece of cloth tape to the bar that usually wears thru the wire. I used tape to hold the 2 pieces back together and some spray glue to stick it back onto the pad. Going on a year now with no problems.

Just my 2 cents.

My buddy has a bunch of elements from some saabs that he uses at his house (they don't have normal heat, just a huge fireplace that they burn wood in). If I could find a stock switch control for a 96 I plan on wiring them in. Never thought of buying an after market carbon fiber? Just go to a junk yard and find a car w/ heated seats and strip em down. They sell like mad on ebay.

You can buy universal carbon fiber heating elements... I guess nobody has tried em, I just know my drivers side doesn't work and the passenger side does.

I love the heated seats... not buying another car unless it has heated seats...

heated seats are for wimps. jesus what did we all do years ago before computers, cell phones and heated seats my god gimme a break. put a remote starter in it and heat it up before you get in it. i dont even have heat in my mark. grow some balls brandon lol.

nope but i have taken the elements out and sold them. i wouldnt want them in a mark VIII, i have seen the elements go bad and burn a nice fat hole right through the leather skin. no thanks!

lolol

my passenger side works fine, bottom and back........my driver bottom element worked till i tried using it this year..........oh well, we got like a 2 month winter down here anyway.............lol :p

I know at work we offer an aftermarket heated seat elements for $240 installed (per side). I didnt think they were too unreasonable. One of these days when I get some cash Im gonna put them in the Vic.

you are all missing the point
why would you want to drive a CE in the SALT all year the mark at least nice ones are summer cars
