so about a week ago my altenator went out so i replaced it with an oriellys one. when i start it the teno guage doesnt work, and the altenator is DOA the battery kept it alive for a couple days. is there anything i could of hit to mess up the temp gauge?

Check the plugs and sensors on the coolant crossover where the alt is. One of them is for the temp (I don't remember which offhand though, sorry.) I knocked one of mine very lightly and it broke when I did my alt the first time. The sensor was inexpensive at the dealer...

Yup, broke the temp sendor on the passenger side of the x-over tube.

Also you sure about the alt? Did you double check the plug?

so the pig tail ins just the part that plugs into the alt?? ill go down and re check it again and i have a alt tester so ill see what happens

Thank you

Thanks for the helpful tip. I was just about done scanning this thread regarding coolant temp gauge. I just replaced my alternator and coolant temp gauge was inop. Saw your post and "Boom"!! there it was, broken sensor. Easy fix. Thanks for helping keep my sanity somewhat intact.
