is there a DIY on how to remove the intake manifold on a 2004 lincoln LS V6? want to get to the sparkplugs thanks in advance for any help

Is the gen 2 V6 intake so much different( I know there different) from my gen 1 V6 intake that you don't have to remove intake to get to cops? My V6 Gen 1 you have to remove top intake to get one side of motor.

i thought the intakes where pretty similar, i know i had to take mine off (00V6) to do a set of plugs.

01v6

on a Gen 1, it's easier than it looks, you just need to remove the bolts one at a time and lay them out on the floor or bench in the same position you got them from, so you don't forget their position. On the Gen 1, I did remove the throttle body from the manifold, and just set the TB aside so i did not have to remove any other connections.

you DO NOT have to remove the intake manifold to get the coil packs out or the spark plugs there is enough room i was able to get the all six coil packs and spark plugs out tools u need

an 8 mm wrench for the coil packs

a torque wrench with an extension and a universal joint like the one here

u dont need to use the extension for the last spark plug which it under the intake manifold u should be able to do it with the torque wrench and the universal joint

once i got the spark plugs out ( these plugs only have 60 000kms on them) i noticed the spark plugs from the passenger side have a little bit of orange color on them(on the white part) and the other ones from the drivers side dont my question it what could this indicate...maybe my PCV needs to be changed?

universal joint like the one u see here http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...craft%2B2-piece%2BUniversal%2BJoint%2BSet.jsp

I would guess that it was from water getting into the sparkplug wells, but it could be something else.

Wadda ya think Joegr?

A little orange on the plugs? Oil in the plug wells?

Good going to the guy who got the plugs out without pulling the UM.

Here's the thing.

At this point you might as well replace the valve cover gaskets and the PCV valve and the PCV connector hose, because soon enough, they will be failing.

And since you will be getting under the lower intake manifold, go ahead and replace all manifold gaskets too.

Then good to go another 100k miles.
