Howdy,

I'm thinking of swapping in a 93 Mk VIII IRS rear into my Riviera since I found one in a yard and its self contained nature, gear and LSD selection, and durability make it a more attractive choice than a Corvette C4 Dana 36 rear axle.

However that is the big, almost huge in my book, issue of the wheel's bolt pattern. I'm starting with a 5x5in bolt pattern on the front and I am pretty sure I can redrill the hubs down to 5x4.75in but not below. Would it be possible to redrill the 4.5in conversion hubs to 4.75in? I know I've seen Ford 4.5in wheels used on GM FWD W-bodies (5x120mm) who also use F-body 12in rotors (5x4.75in) which leads me to believe the change wouldn't be that huge but I am no expert.

Thanks,

I knew I had a rendering of a re-creation I did.

This is a Cobra Hub with the actual flange od. preserved with the 4.5" spacing. I'm gonna venture a guess that you can NOT, get to 4.75 with these.
