Rear view mirror with compass - how set up?

I am looking for a dimming mirror with compass for my 03 TBird that did not come with one. I am not very familiar with the LS other than that my TBird shares a lot of components with the LS. I understand that the LS mirror will fit OK but some of the pics I have seen on eBay show the mirror plus 2 external pieces. Where do those 2 external pieces mount? Looks like one piece may mount on glass under mirror but where does the other piece mount? In the header? How do the 2 pieces work together?
If I can make a LS mirror/compass fit, I would be interested in the complete setup including connecting wire if someone is parting out a LS. Color must be black.

The compass and non-compass mirrors aren't interchangeable. Sorry......

Get a mirror from an 04 to 06 LS. They have all the mirror components built in to the mirror, so no external boxes to mount. The connectors may be different. If so, you can move the pins from the shell of your existing mirror to the shell for the connector for the LS one. Many mirrors that you buy on e-bay for from a junk yard will come with the connector and a few inches of wire anyway.
The mirrors are compatible.

I am not worried about wiring as long as I can get the connector to the mirror along with a bit of the wire. Most of the ebay sellers just offer the mirror without the connector.
I would prefer a mirror without all the external boxes to accomodate so I would have a cleaner installation. I will check out the 04-06 version.

There are some minor differences between the 04 and the 06.
Both have a button to turn the compass feature on and off.
The 04 has a button to turn the dimming feature on and off, but the 06 does not.
