rear tires

Anyone really measure out what the fattest tire we can fit in the back is?

I'm running 275s and I've seen 285's on a few peoples cars. But do we know if its possible to fit a fatter tire under these rears. I wont tub the LS, but I am not against rolling the fenders.

With rolling the fenders and some inner fender modification, you might be able to squeeze a 305. I know a few people have ran 285's and this is what I'm basing it off of.
 
I have 18X8 rims and i am running 245 tires but i think i can squeeze a 275 at least

305.... getting there. I'd love to break the 300 mark!
 
Well, at +38mm my 255/45R18's rubbed. They were 8" wide. I'd imagine it'd be somewhere in the +45mm area, maybe a little higher. Of course at 10" a fender roll would most likely be in order.
 
to run a set of 305's you pretty much need 10" wheels. My 7.5" wide 20's have a +45 offset.
 
I don't know about 305's. I am running 19X10's with a 53mm offset. 275's fit with absolutely no issues. 295's would be very tight with my rims. Plenty of room on the inside but getting real close on the outside even with a little fender roll. Problem is you can't roll them very much due to the door and door jamb being part of the equation. The company that makes my rims emailed me and say that they now have my rim in a 19x11 with a 58mm offset. I've thought about it, but after alot of measuring I'm thinking that a 10.5" rim with a 65mm offset and a 295 would be the biggest you could go without too much rubbing. All of this is on a stock ride height car. Lowered a 9.5" with a 60mm offset is as big as it gets. (Jaguar S-Type R)

hmmmmm 53mm offset on a 10" wide wheel. PERFECT!!!! im sure a 305 can fit on a 10" wheel. now its just a matter or trial and error I guess. I have to go see my cousin and see what he has for used tires to test fit on the wheels. YAY!!!! For big fat meats on the back of the car!!!!

how do you figure it'll be just a drag car? More traction is more traction any way you look at it! and with it just being on the back wheels you can still turn just fine!!!! Now its just a matter of finding what fits then finding the actual biggest size for the fronts and a tire that comes in both sizes.
 
Hey Sully, make sure that you get front tires that are extremely close in revs per mile to the rears, otherwise, you will have issues with ABS and /or traction control due to wheel speed sensors not all being on the same page.

Good Luck on the 305's. Personally I don't think it will work well but I love to be proven wrong. If I were to put 305's on my rims the tires would end up sticking out past the rim and the fender lip by at least an inch. The sidewall would be pinched in also meaning that any benefit gained by the wider footprint would be more than negated by the compromised tire. (Low profile tires with stiff sidewalls do not tolerate being put on too narrow of a rim well. On hard cornering the movement of the tire on the rim can actually seperate the belts or the carcass of the tire at the shoulder and cause bad wear issues or worse. These tires, except for a soft sidewall drag radial, have to be run on a rim that is as wide or wider than contact patch to work safely and optimally) It would probably handle like crap also with the rear being very unpredictable due to tire movement on the rim and due to the large difference in grip front to rear it would also understeer quite heavily. At the limit it would be a very unstable and evil handling car without alot of suspension tuning that without $$$ custom parts is not possible at this time. I tried 295's on mine but was so close to the fender lip that it made me nervous about tearing up the car or tire. If all you are interested in is the look and do not intend to ever push the car I say try it, otherwise I would think about it a bit.
 
sounds like the same thing as my 275's on my 7.5" wheel with 30 series sidewall. And the car still out handles anything else ive seen!
 
How can you put a 275 tire on a 7.5" wide wheel? Are you using the stock wheels or your 20s?
 
I just based it off of 02LSV8Sport running 285's. If I recall he didn't do any fender modification or wheel well modification, and he was lowered about 2 inches. You need the proper offset wheel.
 
There is lots of negative issues with using such wide tires with out the wide wheels. They may some how fit but its not safe and if you dont have a major issue the wear is really going to be off.

What Zintkala mentioned inst even the half of it. Besides, why buy new tires when you need to rotate if you don't have staggered wheels?

I am running 225/45/18 frt and a 245/45/18 rr, with no issue do to the ABS and the traction control. So I guess it doesn't make it that big a deal.

How did your rims look when U took the chrome caps off???? Did u do it yet?!?!? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm??????????

That's because the only difference in those 2 tires is the width. Width of the tire wouldn't affect the size of the revolution.
 
A 225/45/18 has a shorter sidewall than a 245/45/18
