Well it was to late for me guys, I called Pep Boys this morning and gave them the information you guys gave me about lowering the car to get the shocks to fit. Well I picked up the car today and the shocks feel great. The rattling on bumps is gone.

However, those mother fathers managed to do a bit of body damage to the mark. It would appear that they had it on the lift the wrong way and the drivers side door is bent up underneath. The paint is scratched, and the door will not close all the way. The service manager instructed me to go get three estimates and bring them back to get a check. I asked for an incident report and he stated they dont have any. I persisted and he agreed to note my reciept. He writes "Customer needs to bring 3 Estimates for Damage on drivers door" and signs it.

Im getting pretty livid at this point and tell him that he did not state that they would assume responsibility for the damage on my car. He told me he cannot do that because he does not know, and he did not work on the car. I tell him to call the guy, he says he doesnt call guys on there days off. I am litterally flipping out at this point. The service manage was a real dick and would not give me any number for upper managment other than 1800 Pep Boys.

I refuse to leave and the manager hides somewhere. I continue to yell and scream on the phone and an assistant manager takes me outside and explains that they will pay for the damage and I need not worry about getting screwed. I tell him that there word is meaningless to me and I need documentation. He says he was there last night when I brought my car in and witnessed that it was not damaged. He agreed to write that on the reciept and signed it.

Now Im just super pissed, I've contacted a lawyer and plan to go to the Lincoln/Mercury dealer tommorrow for an estimate. I cannot believe the scale of there incompetence at pep boys.

If i get screwed I dont know what im gonna do.

Wow man I feel for you I have been dealing with macco for 6 months now on getting warranty word done to my car
All I can say Is don't give up until they fix your car do not settle for anything less than having the car back to the original condition before you took it in
or the money to fix it
Don't give up after 6 months I find out next week if I won and my car will be done

they put the lift pads on your pinch molding, that is not where you lift a mark VIII up ever. i could see this whole thing going downhill when you said they couldnt put the shocks on. sucks what happend but now you know never to go back to pep boys even for an air freshner.

You should see my crush points... I know what you mean. These people have NO clue where to life this platform.

I am VERY glad you had it all noted and signed. Keep us updated.

i will. I wasnt gonna leave that place without an admission of responisibility. Even though the manager tried as hard as he could to discourage me. Fudge that man, I just hope this isnt a six month battle.

I might make a few copies of the lift point diagram and leave them in the car.
Tape one to the steering wheel as a hint, when it goes to the shop.

even a moron should know though, you cannot lift a nearly 4000 lb car by the pinched sheet metal of the rocker panel. these people puts vehicles on a lift day in and day out, how many other cars have they damaged that the owners just didnt happen to notice. i have bought so many mark VIII's with the rockers crushed from just this kind of thing, you said you hired a lawyer, i hope he tears them a new a**hole.

i have seen this numerous times on dam near every car i've owened. Though some oem jacks have that little 1/4 nook that makes you asume thats were you lift it from.........if your changing a flat....Reguardless, any auto repair center should now were the lift points are on any vehicle, it doesn't take a genisisiss.

If you do any searches on PepBoys you will see that they have Lousy service.

I bought some tires for my truck from them. [Best Price]

Well Best Price wasn't the best deal. I needed a tire fixed once. It took them 1.5hrs of training session to get it back. They rotated and rebalanced them once.

Lugs to tight and a weight fell off in the driveway when I got it home. :(

That really sux mang! I hope they get it fixed for ya.

I hope it doesn't come to this......If they dont fix it file a complaint with the BBB. That usually gets upper management involved pretty quickly. They have a website, BBB.org

Theres some pictures of the damage. The pinch welding is all bent up on both sides to, who knows what other kind of damage is done to the underneath of the vehicle. I'm taking it to my local Lincoln dealer tommorrow for the estimate. I have filed a formal complaint with Pep Boys Corporate, as well as the Better Buisness Bureau.

I have seen that happen to doors when I worked in the shops they probably had the door open when the lifted the car and one of the pads was not under the car all the way so they lifted on the door

I guess I dont see how they could have done that, thats all.

I dont really know, but they did. And the pinch welding is bent in in the same spot on both the drivers and passengers side. I really have no clue. Its clear it was a lift though.

Well I took the Mark to four shops for estimates. Each shop quoted me around 800 dollars. Pep Boys said they should have the check for me in about two weeks. Scheduling to drop the Mark off at my local Lincoln Dealer tommorow for the work.

I hope it comes out nice

Lincoln dealer? Heck, take the check, cash it and have the work done for MUCH less and a reputable body shop. I have NEVER found a dealer that did good body work, only body shops.
