Hey Everybody,
My name is Sirlun and I just purchased a 06 Lincoln LS. It's white with beige interior and has 3700 miles on it. I owned a 94 Caddy Seville but the old Northstar motor finally gave out with 174,000 on it. I had earlier owned a 93 Mark VIII and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned. I would still have that car but it was hit and destroyed 3 years ago. So when I had to buy another car I knew that Lincolns ( if they are cared for are great cars). The 93 Mark had a few problems ( Tourque Converter, Air ride system,) but overall that car was dependable, powerful and fun to drive (when it's tight).

This car (LS 8) seems to be close in power and as fast as the Mark and living here in the ATL and using alot of highway miles (around and about) I was wondering what radar systems best fit this car descretely? The V1, Beltronic's or the Passport? and what about Laser jammers - K 40 or Blinder M20? and lastly if I use one of the above radar detectors would it be best to accompany it with a jammer since I read that once a detector detects a laser its all over but the ticket.:(

Thanks in advanced.;)

yeah they say laser jammers work, I can't see how. because unless it's emitting something all the time, by the time a detector or jammer has recieved laser, they already know your speed etc.

It is not real discreet, but I use a BEL rx 65 pro. It seems to do pretty good picking up radar. It will usually pick up K or Ka band (I forget which) from about 2 miles on hilly roads, and a little over 5 milles on a flat road with a straight shot to the radar. Of course this doesn't help with laser and I don't know how far a cop needs to be to to accuratley clock your speed on a radar gun. I don't think the laser jammers emit anything, I think they are suppose to absorb the laser so the laser doesn't "see" you. It sounds good and I've heard it works, but I dunno. Also I think there is something called Vail that you can put on your cars paint to make it less shiny and evade lasers. I probably wouldn't try that though. I hear the blinder is suppose to work very well. I would accompany it with a Bell product. I think you are correct that once a detector detects laser, it is all over except the ticket.

Escort Passport 8500 X50

you can connect it to the Escort Zr3 Shifter - which os one of the only jammers that tested real.

You can connect Bel's Laser Pro 905 to the rx65 Pro and get the same setup that you have, Quick, for a little less money. From what I've read the 8500 X50 is the same as the RX65 Pro only it cost more. Most testing sites I visted actually said the Bell performed better at radar. I don't know if all of this is true, but I think you pay a higher price for the Escort because of the name. Both systems are probably really good though.

I sell the K40 Calibre unit at my work and all of my customers swear by it. Pricey but great feedback. They also pay your speeding tickets for the first year.

I have a question on these jamming things.

How effective are they really. Who actually has one and had an experience where a cop with a radar gun was pointing at you...and you hit your brakes to slow down and did not give you a ticket(when you were obviously speeding to begin with)? I just googled all 3 system that everyone has mentioned and I have not seen anything more than Internet marketing which does about as much good as an electric supercharger.

Really, I want stories. Please?

You can't jam radar. That is illegal, but jamming laser is legal. I don't have a laser jammer, but my radar detector gives me time to slow down gradually. The only time I got pulled over using it was at night when the cop saw my brake lights.

gotta engine brake in those situations.

ebrake is dangerous in my 03 cause w/the electric it's all or nothing :)

SST DOWN-DOWN lol

or E-BRAKE like a mofo, had to do that before, lol

I love SST just for that reason. IMO, I think if you make a good attempt to slow down (if you weren't at a high rate of speed to begin with), they let it slide a little easier around here. A nose dive will get you everytime...
