Simple electrical wiring question...

So, I ended up getting the DC-45 to power up my 2nd Mark VIII's neon beam and does a great job at it. In fact, both phases of the beam seem a lot brighter!

However, this inverter only has two leads to go into the harness on the trunk and 2 black for the neon, as you can see by the pic.

Brake & Lamps work just fine when individually connected, but of course, connecting them both to the 1 power from the DC45 backfeeds the rest of the lamps and subsequently makes all the brake lamps turn on(side, neon & middle brake lamps) without stepping on the brake pedal.

Now I'm not an electrician, but I think I can use a diode to switch/regulate different voltages for each phase of neon operation. My question is, which lamp line do I put the diode on? Obviously the brake gets the higher voltage, so would I want to use the diode on the regular lamp or the brake lamp?

diode both. diodes are pretty cheap. this keeps the brake lights from lighting the running lights, and the running lights from lighting the brake lights. its a 2 way street.
also. that is also a single stage ballast. it doesn't have hi and low.

the invertor you are trying to use is only a single stage invertor, hence 1 red and one black. you cannot use a single stage invertor on a 2 stage light, meaning, your invertor will only light the neon one way, a 2 stage invertor lights the tail light portion with less power, then when stepping on the brake the 2nd stage of the invertor lights the brake light portion with more power making it brighter. the invertor you have will never do that because it cant. thats why we buy them from glitch because his are 2 stage invertors made to do the exact same thing as the stock ballast.

Anyway to get a second inverter to handle the braking?

No need to, as I got this one to work normal, so to speak...

I ended up connectng the 1 power to the brake and diode the regular lamp to the brake. It works just fine and does seem brighter, or maybe that's just because I want it to look brighter,...

In any event, thanks to all! :D
