I'm looking at a 2006 Lincoln LS w/ 110,000 miles. The car looks MINT.

I am posting to see if there are problems (MAJOR) with the LS's. I noticed someone posted 2different generations. Whats the difference.

Thanks,

Bob

06 is the best year to buy. You still might have coil troubles, but that's not hard to deal with at all.

2000-2002(gen 1)
2003-2006(gen 2)

Gen 2 features a number of updates(interior / options) as well as increased engine HP output. 06 also offers the lse front bumper cover most prefer.

Welcome to the forum. I got an '06 and so far its been 6000 miles of pure bliss. The only painful part is filling up, but the pain goes away as soon as you take off from the gas station :P

I personally think 06 or go home. 04/05 LSE would be my second choice. Try to find lower miles if possible.

Thanks for all your help

How many MPG does it get? Do they all have V8s?

Thanks

Just search this forum for a few hours, you will find tons of information including many mpg threads.

But for what it's worth I get around 19.5 mpg with 70% city 30% hwy. I have changed my driving habits drastically and have seen a huge increase. However, I feel a douchebag tank coming soon and I will probably drop it well into the 18s.

Mpg I get a around 21-22 going to and from work, a handful of stop lights speed limits no greater than 45.

When I first got I was down to about 12mpgs. Douchebag tanks don't last long as I had a few of them my first month or so. I was blown away by the LS. I can only imagine what a real muscle/sport/exotic car can do.

I am a little OCD about driving efficiently (except for on-ramps). My daily commute is 80% hwy, 20% city, with a handfull of stoplights that are always red. Plus I have to run errands as part of my job and drive around town which is always slow, and I easily manage 25MPG. I've done 25.7 a few tanks ago :)

Keys to my success:
- 34psi
- Keeping acceleration below 2000rpm, ideally around 1500 if I can
- Coasting downhill
- Coasting to red lights from 500m away
- Not trying to maintain speed uphill, letting the car slow down a bit
- Not using cruise control
- If the light changes to an orange and I can still beat it, I do instead of stopping. IMO, giving it gas to run it uses less fuel than having to stop and get going again. Do this at your own risk.

Once I employed my new tactics, I went from 23.7 to 25.7MPG. I also fixed a slightly dragging caliper though.

Of course, other drivers hate me but I don't give a crap as they don't pay for my fuel :)

M4rk, with all due courtesy and respect toward a fellow member, riding with you would be about as fun as watching a 72 hour marathon of public access tv with nothing but above room temp water to drink.

Lmao.

I try to slow down with how i drive, but its too boring. I persobally hate taking off from a light and having the car next to me accelerating at the same pace as me, so i usually take off at around 3000-4000 rpm most times to hit the speed limit quick, so i can ride without all the traffic.

I have had a Gen I 2002, and GEN II 2006. The Gen II is a better car in my opinion. The uopdates that Ford did (many subtle) are nice improvements. I averaged 25MPG in my tuned Gen I and so far about 24 in my stock 06.

No worries lol, it is boring without a doubt. I am in no rush to get to or from work quickly, so instead I enjoy the comfort. I get my daily dose of thrills on the on-ramps and when passing trucks, so I focus on minimizing my running costs. Mind you, I am still a student, hence why I try to save every dollar I can. :p
