does the neon bulb usually go bad? i have the chance to buy one for 50 dollars shipped, but there is 2 tabs broken off (is this a big deal) and there is no ballast with it. not sure if its worth the shot...

the only way the bulb goes bad is if its dropped or repeatedly slammed over and over, its very rare. you dont need all the studs to put it back on a car, it helps to have all, or as many as you can, but whatever for 50 bucks!!! you can buy aftermarket ballasts off rich mcarthy for 90 bucks. you cant buy the originals anymore except used.

i dont know for sure but 6 isnt right, its more than that and its not a tab, its a threaded stud that goes through the trunk lid and the studs then get 11 mm nuts onto them to hold it to the car.

i decided to pass on the light, he is in florida and he is not willing to ship. just as well, as he says he dont know if it works, theres no ballast, and only 4 of 11 mounting tabs, or screws are left on it. probly jus not worth the agrivation...

There are 9 studs. I had 2 of them break off when I replaced my neon so I just put some strip caulk around the broken off piece and tightened the nut so water wouldn't go in the trunk through the open hole. It still is held in tightly by the remaining studs.
