You know where you put the lug nut on the wheel,(I don't know what its called...screw maybe???)how do you replace that because it broke on my car. Do you just hammer it out?

lol you mean the lug??? One way is to hammer it out and install a new one by using the lug nut to pull it up tight but be careful you can strech and snap the new lug if you use an impact wrench and try to get it on like rambo. The other time consuming way is remove the assembley and use a press to pop the old one out and press the new one in but not many people have the time or the tool to do that.

Thanks to both of you. Got the old one out and went to Advance A$$ to get the new one twice but they gave me the wrong one both times. Had to get the car put together again without the wheel stud because I need the car tomorrow. Will get the part from Lincoln dealer and get it fixed up.

Gee, advance gave you the WRONG ONE??? There's a surprise...

Take a lugnut with you next time so they can match the threads, and get some kind of measurement as to the length...what'da expect from minimum wage bozos? Do not let it go, though, with 4 1/4 bolt spacing you are closer to center so 4 attachments rather than 5 is not real safe, especially if there is any poorly torqued lug on that wheel-safety first.

i beg to differ on the 4 is not real safe statement above, its safe not as safe as 5 but still with in the limits of safety...now 3 studs ur askin for it. i have been running my mark for 2 yrs with only 4 nuts/tire cuz im too cheap to get the 5th one for each wheel...and i work at a ford stealership.

mine are torqued on properly though. but 5 is ALWAYS the best way to go.

LOL i too had been running 4 lug nuts on all 4 wheels for over a year, till i went to the junkyard and took 4 off of a junk Mark.

OMG...... :slam

I made about 20 passes with 3 lugnuts on one front wheel.

on my first gen w/lacey spokes and those danged rattling center caps.
I heard it rattle and wrote it off to the center cap.

One of the other racers mentioned it, and I "waved them off" as I tapped on the center cap and duplicated the sound.
After round 3 I heard and odd sound as I stopped in my pit space.
SO I decided to take a peek behind the center cap.
AS I pried it off, two lug nuts, with the studs still in them fell on the ground.

I scooped them up, put them in my pocket and tried to forget about it for the next 2 rounds which I won...and tried not to think about them for the 82 mile ride home.

I made it home with all 4 wheels still on the car, and replaced the broken lugs the following moring.

yea.... as fordnut would say

currently I have 4 stock lug nuts (chrome) and one lug nut from a lacey spoke on my front wheel.
It "appears" to be missing a lug nut, and I have had two different track tech guys say "you need a lug nut".
But once I tell them to "look closer" they see there IS actually a nut on there.

lolz

I'm surprised anyone let you run with center caps. That's a crazy story man.

I was in a buddies car cruising down the interstate and we heard a couple noises suddenly.. and didn't think much of it, kept rolling down to our exit about another 10 miles down the interstate. After turning right at the top of the exit ramp both of us thought we saw something fly up, as if to be a lugnut, and we joked "must be the f'g lugnuts - haha" and sure as hell we pull over and there's 2 lug nuts left, the other 3 broke the studs off with them. He had just bought the car a week prior, and the guys who put on the aftermarket wheels must've cranked 'em down. That or the wheels weren't hubcentric.

Never had the center caps mentioned at ANY dragstrip, and I've been to just about every dragstrip that is still open in Texas, and many that are no longer open.

I did have to take them off to run at the AutoX though, everytime at every event... no hub or center caps or floor mats.
