i just finished up the jmod, tc, tranny cooler, drveshaft, and fuel pump. got everything put back on the car. went to start it and it wont turn over. it just clicks very loudly almost like a dead battery. so i tried jumping it with my truck and same as before.

when i try arcing the terminals of the starter it clicks once when i remove the screwdriver. when i try to start it with the keys it clicks about twice a second in sets of two. ex. click, click, pause, click, click, pause.....

my thoughts are that either the starter went bad or the tc bolts are possibly catching on that sheild. i had to cut the shield to take the tranny out because i couldnt get the starter off the tranny. had to wiggle the whole dam thing outta there with the starter still on it. also i didnt put the top 2 bellhousing bolts in yet if that makes any difference.

its definitely the starter. i was under the car and had a friend try starting the car. and the starter started smoking pretty bad. not sure whats wrong with it though. i guess i''ll take it off and see if it turns over with a battery charger. if the starter isnt fried that means it needs shimmed? not sure why it wouldnt be lining up right.

i do plan on putting the other 2 bolts on as soon as i'm sure i dont have to pull the transmission again.

You might want to put the two bolts in before putting the starter back on. I know they're hell to get to but it could be stopping the starter from lining up right and binding it in some way on the fly wheel but then again, I could be wrong on this. It's only two bolts and time and then you'll know if they have anything to do with it or not. Was the starter giving any problems before it was removed?

no i believe the starter was fine. for a while i HAD to start my car with a screwdriver on the starter but i believe that was an anti theft issue that resolved itself.

there is a decent chance that the starter is slightly unaligned though because i snapped all 3 bolts and had to get them drilled out by the fab guy at work. i assumed they were centered right but if its that sensitive that could be my problem.

Seriously? What's up with people prying things out of their cars lately

well i snapped off the bottom starter bolt. then proceeded to round off the other 2. so i had to pry it out.

i also rounded off all 4 tc bolts and had to use a damaged bolt remover to get them off. and i snapped all 4 exhaust bolts. i guess i'm just really lucky lol

Holy crap! No, you need better fuggin tools and to use the correct metric size sockets. Please tell me you were not using SAE.

i used craftsmen metric 6 point sockets. 15 13 12 and 10 all seam to ring a bell.

Either you're a ripped camel wanna be, or you didn't use pb blaster

Hey you ever tried that new stuff that just came out? Ya know? Whatdoyacallit? Oh yeah! WD-40. :D

I dont envy you people with the salt and stuff. During the entire tear down the only bolt that gave us an issue was the bolt that holds the power cable to the main fuse box.

lol i used almost a whole can of liquid wrench. i have trouble with just about every bolt/screw/nut i encounter. lots of rust. i need to replace the whole drivers side rocker pannel. underbody isnt bad at all though

anywho.... so you guys would guess that the starter being drilled out, is aligned wrong?

no. i said the anti-theft has given me problems. that was way different though. although i would guess that the starter smoking is a sign that it is probably bad now.

Yeah. Once you let the magic smoke out of electronics then they stop working. :(

thats a real :q:q:q:qter. sounds like i need to get those 2 tranny bolts in and get a refurbished starter and i'll be back on the road.

hope so anyways. the crank wont rotate even with some serious leverage but i'm hoping that is just the starter interfering.

Uhhhhhh, you prolly have more then that. Sounds like you have bind in there somewhere. You sure the TC was seated all the way down? You ned to pull the starter off and see if its still bound up.

Ok I'm just gonna say it..
You took the thing apart, put it back together and now it don't work

you didn't put it back together right!!

And from the sounds of it..you didn't take it apart right either...go take pictures, post them, and go stand in the corner

i'm prey sure it is seated all the way. i'm no mechanic but it seated in further like 3 times. i spun and pushed forever. i'll take the starter out and hopefully everything will free up. doubt it. but that would be nice. i really dont want to have to tear it all apart again.
