put car in gear, no movement at all

well on way home... it happened. ETC FAIL SAFE MODE! WTH is this crap?

The great majority of the time, this is cured by replacing all of the coils and all of the spark plugs. You might get lucky and find that coil/plug #4 is the problem, but even if so usually when one fails, the rest are close behind. Be sure to verify that all new plug gaps are at 1mm.

well, because their was some noise in the shop i couldnt really get the part name that he said was what made the trans stop working, all i know is for sure is that he said that , that part wasnt suppose to spin both ways, and well mine spun both ways , i know this is probably the most vague descri[tion ever , sry

he gave me 2 options

1) patch up the trans , basically just get it to run, fix that specific part and some other parts in it that need to be changed, but not guaranteed for it to last ,he highly discourages this , but money wise only 1200$

2) overhauling for a total of 2300$ , because of it having 180k he said this would be the best thing, and the work would be guarateed

So he won't guarantee his work unless you pay him an extra grand???

well option one means just the specific part plus some others that need replacing ,

option two is a complete rebuild , all parts

So he wants to replace parts that don't need it? The first description sounds like he'll replace the worn out (necessary) parts and not guarantee his work. The second description sounds like he'll replace good and bad parts and warranty the work. Correct? Why replace parts that don't need it? I know, there may be parts he doesn't replace that may fail down the road, but before I forked over ANY money I would want (and post here) a detailed list of the parts he will replace.

Or is it that option two is really for him to install a used rebuilt (by someone else, if at all) transmission in place of yours?
Is this one of those national chain transmission shops?

nope not a chain shop, this is one of the 2 trans shops on the island ,the other shop has a bad rep of doing exactly what you said, hed go to salvage yards and pick out trans and say he rebuilt them , so i stayed away from it ,

sry for the long wait, i went ahead and got the cheaper of the two 1253.17,

this are the parts that were changed,

Front pump gasket
Front pump seal
Front pump O-Ring
Filter Car 03-UP
O/D Sprag
Line Pressure Reg Valve
Overdrive Drum
Trans Fluid

everything else with exception of line flush and waste disposal was labor, the car is running freaking sweet, shifting beautifully (alot better than the cars 2013 automatic mustang i test drove a few days ago for a charity event) overall im happy with the work and the results
