Pro's / Con's - Hub Swap vs Speedstars???

sapperfire stop teasing us and tell us what you are doing to your mk!!!!! i want to know so bad!!!!!

For those who think the stock brake calipers are not adequate. Just get some EBC blue stuff brake pads and EBC brake rotors and it will greatly increase your stopping power. If Horsepower can use it in their 610 HP Project Deep Sleep 97 Thunderbird, we can use them as well, as I know nobody is pushing 610 HP. :shifty:

i also read they used a crappy exhaust and a carbed engine. so far from high tech. to each their own i guess.

OK, so after much debate I've decided to go thru with it and do the hub swap.

I purchased new mustang front hubs and new Mark VIII rear hubs (will have them drilled). I'd like to purchase new rotors since I'll already have them off. What size rotors do I need to order if I'm keeping the stock calipers for now (will probably upgrade to cobra's or brembo's later)?

Also, I'm ordering wheels & tires tomorrow. If my research is correct, 18x9 with a 30mm offset for the fronts and 18x10 with a 40mm offset for the back will fit. As for tires, I'm leaning towards Falkins (good reviews and great price), 245x40 on the front and 285x35 on the rears.

Are there any parts that I'm forgetting??

lug nuts. the mark viii has metric ones (M12x1.5) and the mustang stuff is standard (1/2"-20).

if you are keeping the stock calipers, you need stock sized rotors.
they will either need to be redrilled to the mustang pattern, or take a grinder and slot the holes to fit the mustang pattern.
i did the slot grinding. no issues. they are on another car now and still without issue.

ive searched and cant find EXACTLY what is needed just to do it normal. that being no high end brakes, etc. on front you can use mustang hub and rotors, will the mark brakes work with it?
now the rear. what hub are you supposed to get( without redrilling), and again mustang rotors, will the mark calipers work?
if you do redrill, you have to do what to make rotors work?
im getting tired of waiting for the rims i want and thet still dont have 10" rear rims unless i swap.
the easiest, way, mustang hubs and rotors up front, and mark viii redrilled out back with what rotor, or what hub can i buy that goes right on?

can't mix and match, mustang caliper and rotor, or mark viii caliper and redrilled or slotted rotor.

now the rear. what hub are you supposed to get( without redrilling)

any cobra mustang with IRS.

and again mustang rotors, will the mark calipers work?

in the rear, with a relocation bracket, yes.

redrill or slot the rotors to fit the mustang pattern. like i said.

the easiest, way, mustang hubs and rotors up front, and mark viii redrilled out back with what rotor

11.65" rear cobra rotor and relocation bracket, or redilled stock mark rotor and stock caliper.

what hub can i buy that goes right on?

in the rear mustang cobra with IRS, in the front, any 5 bolt mustang with ABS.

if you just want to hub swap (mark viii brakes), just get the hubs and wheels. then redrill all four rotors. bolt together, done.
this isn't complicated.

I paid $40 to have my rotors redrilled, and Mark rear brakes are the better option

Actuated calipers are a better design than the Stangs

i see. yeah i kept the mark calipers when putting on the bigger rear rotors. didn't make any noticeable difference in braking, but stock mark rotors are just so small looking...

what just a set of 03 or newer front n rear hubs?and when im buying them i answer yes to abs correct

yep. the rear hubs are rare and expensive (this is why saturnv redrills them), but all four hubs for an 03 svt cobra is what you want.
