I just realized that my trunk light stays on even after it is closed. I think this will explain why my battery kept running down while I was deployed. The girl friend kept having to get the battery charged. When I came home last week I took the battery in and got a new one. It had a dead cell. I also noticed that the trunk ajar status is on on the dashboard. I also notice that water is getting in on the right side of the trunk. The trunk is closed but would could cause it to send a signal thinking it still open or keeping the trunk light on? Is there anything that can be adjusted or what? Obviously it's not closing and sealing completely. Thanks

The plunger switch that turns the light on and off is probably misaligned.

To be honest the whole trunk is out of line. It was like that when I bought the car. Is there a way to adjust the whole trunk so that the lines and seams align up where they suppose to?

While you're working on that, you may want to tape or strap the plunger switch in so that the light is off and the ajar message goes away. BTW, this still shouldn't have run the battery done. There is a battery saver circuit that turns all the lights off about thirty minutes after you last open or close a door, as long as the key is off.

Sounds like all of those problems are due to the damaged trunk, it being unaligned.

And what joe said about the light turning off.

Yeah, it beats buying a new battery or getting it charged all the time. Just a quick fix until you get tackle the problem at the heart!

Good luck to you brother.

How did you figure out the trunk light is still on when closed? Did a young co-ed tell you? :shifty:

still waiting.........patiently............waiting....I remember how hot they were...

I dont think a little light like that will run your battery that low either. I left the lights on on my dad's expedition the whole night a while back and it almost turned on. I didn't know about that safety switch.Good to know.

Good stuff :D

quik had a better one he posted about a year or so ago, it had 3 or 4 girls in the trunk.
