I am most likely picking up a 98 LSC, has 100k on the body, 20k on a replacement long block.

I will have some cash left over and plan on throwing in some 4.11's and maybe some exhaust, i have heard of the IRS cars having vibration problems with higher gears, is this true?
I will most likely keep the factory tips, but is there a good muffler to weld in that wont drone like flowmasters, i don't need it to be loud as hell. Has anyone run SLP Loudmouth II's on these cars/

I'm coming to these cars because i need a new dail driver to replace my foxbody, and cobra's are out of my price range...

also, anyone have a link for a how to for the j-mod?

thanks, ill post pictures when i buy it.

Ive never heard of a vibration problem with geared IRS cars, thats a new one.

PM me your email address and I'll send what you need for the J-Mod. You'll need the two gaskets for the valve body and a 3/32 & 7/64 drill bit but all of that information is in what I'll send to you. Don't put your email out to be spammed. Please PM it and I'll get it right to you.

also, i tried searching it but does anyone have a link to a sensor lowering how to

You probably read about the driveshaft vibration with gears-do a search on this.

Good choice of gears, it should really help acceleration off the line.

PS i'm on my second Mark8 and i have to tell you just having the mufflers removed and welding in straightpipe and it sounds GOOD!!! Better on my LSC cause of the dual exhaust, non LSC's have 2-1-2 piping instead of true duals.

Not too loud either, i never got in trouble with Police for it being too loud.

The driveshaft needs to be changed because the stock 2 piece unit will vibrate with a lower gear set. The IRS is fine.

these should ya out...everything u needed to know about the jmod...congrats on the new mark and welcome to our forum. Also remember you will be drilling through the seperator gasket and NOT the valve body

any particular place to pick up a 1 piece driveshaft, is there any change in length and width between models

A 93 one piece shaft will fit any other Mark VIII.

is it worth buying a new aluminum shaft? or just pick one up at the JY untill (if) i build the car up for more power

The info I sent him is correct in PDF format and anyone that has done a J-Mod would know that you don't drill the valve body. Your info that you posted is for 97 which is different from the 98 and will require different drilling points. I know this because I have done it. Not quite as many holes to drill for the 98 and it only needs two different sized bits. He also didn't buy the car yet. Notice the header???? Before posting J-Mod info, try and be sure you're posting for the right transmission. Apparently you didn't know that things changed in 98 for that particular trans. That's why I chose to email the info. I emailed info about a 98, not 97 and older. Don't want people getting confused that don't know about changes.

:( on here for a day and already starting trouble.

Thanks for the advise again no limit. Ive got your email stored, and it will be one of the first things that get done (as long as it gets over freezing here) as well as the 4.11's and 1 piece driveshaft. Hopefully those things and a good radio will keep me happy and patient till me fox gets built

(planning a 427w, low compression so it can be boosted down the road, w/ a t56 and 3 linked MM rear for those interested in things as ancient as pushrod motors and fox platform cars.)
