Not sure if anyone here has ever ran into this before, but normally as all of you probably know, when ya lean the seat forwards or backwards it moves on its own... well today I noticed my passenger side no longer moves on its own.

It works with the button on the side but not when you lean it forward...

Any ideas?

Yeah, it's old.
Poorly designed.
And damn near impossible or impractical to fix once it breaks.

Frankly, I keep thinking about putting manual T-bird tracks into mine and never having to think about it again.

I've had plenty of fun and games with my seats - I actually got rid of the auto-glide, partly because of the motor wear, but more importantly, the micro-switch guard is flippin' dangerous! plus, it was starting to poke through the leather, at the side.

Anyway, if the seat moves back and forth ok with the switch on the side, then I'd look at the auto-glide micro-switches and their wires.

A very slow moving seat is a problem with the middle motor. (over used because of that damn auto-glide) You may have some success by taking that motor apart and cleaning it up. Billcu has a write-up on this:

Ah, ok - you mean it moves with assistance? Definitely a weak motor then - hopefully just dirty.

Is there a way to take out the auto glide feature but keep the other electronic movement functions?

That's what I did, shagdrum - I removed the auto-glide micro-switches that operate when the seat back is tilted / returned. All other functions appear to be working the same.

Did you put a manual mechanism for moving the seat forward when people get in the back? Is that even possible?

How would one go about removing the "micro-switches"? I don't even know what those are.

My drives seat auto glide feature simply won't work. All other functions are fine, and the passenger seat is fine, just the auto-glide on the driver seat.
