I really hate to write this since I have not driven the LS for an entire week, but I installed a wiring harness on my 2000 LS V-8 this weekend. It started 5 out of 5 times, both when the engine was cold and when it was hot.

I changed everything and the dealership was scratching their heads about what the issue could be. I told them to double check the TSB's and they came up with a Jumper Wiring Harness part 1W4Z-13A612-AA. It goes underneath the steering wheel (lower panel).

For those of you with issues starting where the car cranks over and it will finally go after about 4 tries, consider this wiring harness. I would sometimes run the key back and forth (on/off) because the gf would do this and she said it was working for her. Of course the TSB states that it is typically after a short hot soak and no ignition spark or injector pulse during the condition and will start normally once the ignition key is cycled completely.

Again, this is not fully tested in my case. I had changed almost everything (MAF sensor, IAC valve, crank sensor, cam sensor, cleaned injectors, coils, spark plugs, oxygen sensors, some sensor for the EGR).

Unfortunately I just read a post that someone sold their car because the dealerships couldn't give them an answer.

Strange... my '00 V8's been starting hard lately. Cranks for a while but does fire up. How much was the harness? $84 through FPN!!!!

Yeah...after I was really beating my head off of the workbench and quizzing QuikLS time and time again (although with all of the new parts it did run a lot better! Just wouldn't start!! but I learned alot about the LS in the process from QuikLS and some other members).

Give it some thought...I was so stuck on injectors for weeks and they tested fine because I thought one was stuck open dripping fuel.

Try this - turn on the key, crank, turn on the key and then off quickly a few times, then see if it starts.

I'll try that. It cranks and fires, but takes about three times as long as it used to.

That's great to hear. Sorry it has taken so much work to figure it out. My car had that problem when I first bought it so I had it in the dealer for the first 3 months I had it. They put in new fuel pumps, fuel regulater, fuel filter, a wiring harness that attaches to the ignition, and a bunch of other things I can't think of right now. Seems like a pretty common problem on these first gen V8's, you'd think they would have it figured out by now....

Glad you (hopefully) got it figured out. Good Job! :Beer
