If going with a poweradder which gears do you guys recommend?

If keeping the car NA, which do you recommend?

I would go 4.30's Na.... as for a power adder, how much hp? 4.10's, 3.90's, 3.73's would all be viable options....

I only paid a few $'s over $400 for everything to switch to 4.30's!

Same here with the 4.10s

Cant comment on what to go with power adders but NA at least 4.10s. 3.73s aren't that much numerically higher then your stock 3.27s and these motors like to rev.

I'm almost tempted to go with 4.56's!

I plan on doing some road tripping with the car though, that might be a little too deep :D

I was thinkin for like supercharger cars, i wouldnt do less then 4.10's on a NA your right, they do like to rev..they love it..lol

Maybe 4.10 is a good range to be at, room for poweradders down the road without a 2nd gear swap, but good enough for a daily driven streetable NA in the mean time.

I was just thinkin 4.30's might be to steep for a supercharged car, what do ya think?

The black second gen that ran low 11's has 4.10s and a 4xxxrpm stall..... if you can hook up I don't know if there is such a thing as too deep of a gear....

That thing is sick...its just like my car only superbadass. :D

I more worried about daily driving on the highway and stuff like that, 4.30s/4.56's and a supercharger, daily driven street mark..wonder how it would fair.

i wouldnt worry about gears unles your going turbo.... they need to work hard to get the power.... everything else its just a matter of getting 4th to top out at the end of the 1320

I think you mean 3rd to top out... this is the Mark forum, not the LS forum.

that depends on the power to turn them there wheels. 3.73's would be nice, but i dont know about the increase being worth it. I never swapped my mark's rear. I cant justify doing that kind of work unless you8r getting a decent gain

If you have 3.08's you might be staying in 2nd at the end of the 1/4 mile....

Yup.. my 95 with stock gears made the 2-3 WOT shift at 105MPH
So unless you trap 105 or better your still in 2nd.

This is correct 373's are a waste of time, I did it...regretted it ever since.
The bad thing about 373's is you make teh 2-3 shift about 50 ft before the 1/4 mile mark and the car "feels" like it falls on it's face just before the stripe.

410's are gonna get you back into the power in 3rd gear and let you "pull third" a LITTLE in the 1/4
430's will give you almost a 60000RPM at the finish line whick is really where you want to be.

410's or 430's or go home.

For a n00b that might stumble onto this

everything else its just a matter of getting 4th to top out at the end of the 1320

Just say NO to WOT 3-4 shifts in your 4r70w(read ALL mark 8's)

midwestbird went with 4.56's in the "barn door" (82 gmc shortbed ;) just a small block) i had fun with him on the toll road on the way to cordova (about 2 hours) when we went back in the summer. then he killed my stock mark at the track lol

5.13's would be fail in the 1/4 mile... they would be 1/8 mile gears....

85mph at 6000 rpms... you would need to shift into 4th to make it across the 1/4 not bouncing off the rev limiter.

Supercharged or not once the converter is locked up in forth the engine is still spining the same speed. I am a little under 3000rpm at 80mph. Maybe even 85 and still under 3000rpm with stuck tires. I never really paid attention. I can get over 20mpg cruising at that speed all day. I will say I lost quite a bit of mileage around town but that seems to be more from the 3500 stall converter and my urge to put that and gears to good use.
