polish then wax ???

well found some nu finish in the garage today..My question is can i put on the nu finish and then some turtle wax???Searched abit on the web and said it would be fine but want to make sure its ok..I've never used a polish before so i want to make sure..

Also, you apply polish the same way as wax correct?
 
probably get best results using a machine for polish and then wax it by hand or machine. use high quality product for high quality results..
 
well ended up just using the nufinish. Not bad..easy to take off and apply.. Comparable so far as the turtle wax i used last year.
 
i allways washed with a heavy detergent, used a rubbing compound verry lightly (do not let dry),rewash,wax,polish, allways used maguires or zymoil. i may be stupid but i thought the polish was made to really shine up the wax.

I've been using Mequires cleaner/wax for over 20 years. Does a good job quick and easy. I tried Mequires 3 step system,cleaner, polish, and wax. A lot of work but worth it. I did a 95 suv for my sister and her neighbors thought she got a new car. My 95 MARK never looked better. I had some NU finish once, threw it away, it would'nt even work on my lawn mower
 
While there are much better (read expensive) stuff then what I use I still like Meguires professional stuff.

Ill use the Meguires clay bar then go back over it with their Professional swirl remover using my Porter Cable and a Lake Country Orange pad. Then I go back over the car with their Glaze and a white foam pad. After that I go over it with the NXG wax and a black Lake Country finnishing pad and the softest micro fibre pads I can find.

I need to get a bunch of pads from them. They come highly recommended everywhere I see.
 
NUFinish sucks. I'm pretty positive it's not a true polish. Probably a sealant. It can be a little confusing with the terminology. A true polish contains abrasives that will mechanically remove a slight layer of clearcoat. Polishes are meant to remove surface imperfections such as swirl marks/scratches. This will also make the paint film more optically clear, increasing reflectivity and shine.

This does not mean that companies don't mix up their labels. Duragloss and Zaino are notorious for labeling their sealants as polishes.
 
i usually apply a hick coat of wax, let it sit a day or two in the hot sun, then drive through a rainstorm till it comes off
 
this thread makes me LOL

Good detailing products aren't always expensive... One of the best waxes out there IMO is colinite 845... at a whole $8 a bottle.
