Have a set of wires coming for the Mark (3 are bad), and am wondering if they would work JUST TO TEST if the wires on my 16 valve 4.6L Tbird.

Yes I know they're taller, but want to make sure I won't fry anything by using the 'wrong' kind of wires.

At $200 a pop, I really don't want to buy another set for the Tbird unless I know they're the problem.

$200.00????? Ford P/N F8PZ-12259-MA list is 170.84 and LVC is $82.17 plus shipping for the O/E wires. The wires should work if you can install it properly.

So presuming they'll fit under the intake and whathaveyou, they'll work?

Perfect. Will give that a go this weekend. After installing them on the Mark (with new Motorcraft copper plugs), the car runs like it's brand new. Fries the tires 1/2 way through first gear :D.

Yup, about $200 with taxes up here - Canadian money of course. Can't afford to pay $82, because it'll become $120 with exchange, $160 with shipping, tack on $40 for brokerage at the border, then wait for them to get here.

USPS would be no more than 25.00 for shipping...I am not sure about the exchange or if they get you for duty on post items. But I understand.

Hmmm... I was just wondering IF it would work out cheaper for someone in the USA (close to Canada) to receive said wires and forward them on to you in a plain package.

That would totally eliminate tax, wouldn't it?

not if the rcmp catches you!!!

I sell to "northern" us cities and they get across somehow. When I was in Champlain NY, 6 miles south of PQ, we installed a lot of parts there and then the cars went back north. What could happen if they got cought....jail maybe?? huge fine?? lose the car??
I don't think it is worth the risk trying to do my self.
I got nailed for a camera i purchased in Taipe Taiwan, while coming back from a trip to Montreal, I had the sales recpt inside the camera so I lucked out.

Not worth the risk at all. Customs on both sides can be big pricks even over little things.

I do appreciate the offer Max, but it's always more headache than it's worth to purchase south of the border.

And I did get my price wrong, it was 'only' $165 for the set (before taxes).

Might be turning the Tbird into a parts car though, just snagged a '94 Signature series Town Car this morning, 160k miles, Florida car, for $1000 .
