Pics of pullies?

That's good to know. Thanks for the info. So the Powermaster 114 is the one to run if your high-revving the engine?

DLF, what exact pulleys are you running if you would be so kind. :)

What dia is a stock alt pulley? So I don't have to run out to garage! LOL

March 1175 UD Pulley Kit. I didn't measure the pulleys in the kit, but I'm using the stock alternator pulley, which I believe is 2.375", but I haven't measured it myself.

If the March 1158 crank pulley is indeed 5", as Right on the Mark has posted, then an alternator pulley of 2" would produce 17.5K alternator RPM's @ 7K crank RPM's, and 1,650 @ 650 RPM's

Just measured my Gen1 alt dia its 2.290. So when I had stock 6.570 damper and stock 2.290 alt I was hitting 20076 rpm at 7000rpm. Yikes!
A totally stock MK8 is spinning alt 17200 at just 6000 rpm.

Replacement Cobra alternators appear to be sold with 59mm (2.32") diameter pulleys, so we're in the same ballpark.

I'm using this calulator:

http://www.culvermotor.com/Engineering-Formulas/Pulley-and-RPM-Calculator.html

I wouldn't mind using a 50mm (1.97") diameter alternator pulley, along with the 5" diameter March 1158 crank pulley, but I haven't yet located one.

650 = 1,649.75
7,000 = 17,766.5

With a 49mm (1.93") pulley (which I think is pushing the envelope a bit).

650 = 1,683.94
7,000 = 18134.72

high output

Wadayathink about running a 200 amp? opines welcome. Is this one worth a crap?

Just thought i'd show todays project. I went thru my pile of alts to find close dia pulley. I found a 1.900 on an old 5.0 mustang alt. I had to machine the thing all up to fit but its like a glove now. The stock Gen 1 pulley is 2.285 dia and the Gen2 pulley is 2.320 dia. The main deal with mk8 alts is the pulley has to go over a lip on alt then drop into the alt with like a nipple on back of alt.

Here you can see the front lip on alt and the size difference of pulleys.

Here you can see all the back cutting I had to do on pulley so it will go over alt.

Here is new pulley on.

The 4 valve and 2 valve are balanced different yes? I just got some Steeda UDP, but they are 96-01 gt.....I feel stupid...exact same pullies, just different part number by one digit.

No, they are the same. Accessory pulleys may be diff but the crank pulley should be the same balance wise. Snub length might be diff for a 2v vs a 4v timing cover but I doubt it.

I've got a steeda crank UD and the water pump pulley on my tool box I think. $50 plus the ride if you think you got the wrong one; or if anyone else wants it I guess.
I went with a IW 10% OD 8 rib for no belt slip... Just for safe measure.
