i just need a quick pic request of an ls(preferably black, but any will do) with the chrome cobra r wheels. ive been searching the last couple minutes, and cant find anything. i found a local guy with a set of them for $350 with tires. how well do these fit on the ls? these are 4.25 bolt pattern, and he had them on his old cougar. im hoping i can get these, so i can take off these ghetto lexani wheels that came on my ls....thanks! -grant

You might want to google svt thunderbird wheels they were look alike 94 cobra R wheels but they were 5x4.25 and 17x7.5 not sure about the offset

so nobody has pics of them? i know someone on here had them on their ls, because they had them listed as one of their mods in their sig....anywho, i bought them, and i need to get one tire replaced. ill post pics when i get them on. id still like to see what they look like though.

everyone says this wheel or that wheel wont fit because its the wrong bolt pattern... people put mustang wheels on their svt lightnings with billet adapters and have no problems. if it works on a 4500lb truck, itll work on a much lighter LS. there's a guy running older viper wheels on his lightning with extensive suspension modification. he pulls over a g in the corners, and from what i heard, its his wheels that are bending, not his adapters. So if you can get the right offset wheel, or you roll your fenders enough, bolt pattern isnt an issue.

They may not fit perfectly, because although I'm pretty sure the Cougar shares the same bolt pattern as the TBird, Mark VIII, etc. which is 5x4.25, the Mark (and I'm assuming the Cougar) uses a different offset than the LS. There was a member here who put LS wheels on his Mark VIII and had to use adapters to get them out far enough. My point is you better try puttin em on there before you buy em.

i put them on, and the rim sits flush with the fender, if not a little inside. the wheels are in great condition, but i will need to get new tires before i put them on. the tires look too big for the wheel imo, theyre 255/45/17, but the sidewall looks massive on these wheels(maybe because im used to my 20's?).

i think im going to wait until i get my car lowered to put these on, but ill post pics of the wheel on the car when i get some time to upload them.
ps- thanks for the compliment eastcoast.

Many manufacturers made the Cobra Rs in 4.25" pattern, there's about 100 MarkVIII guys with them and it has 4.25. Problem will be offset and width. Most Cobra Rs are 9" wide and are not as big a offset the LS needs. The 9" alone will be a challenge even if you had your choice of offset. I have the Y2K Cobra Rs on my MarkVIII, they are 9.5" wide with a 36mm offset and I had to roll the rear lips. Theres no way they'll go on the LS.

A company did make a 17X7.5" 4.25" pattern for the Thunderbird as mentioned above. While the offset is less than the LS the lack of huge width would probably fit fine. I see this as the only choice to put a Cobra R on the LS. All 18s will be 9" wide and the Y2Ks are 9.5" wide alot of the time.

IIRC, with respect to wheel width, the limiting factor in the rear is the suspension, not the body.
