So I went to go look at this Mark VIII

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Linc...2?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2c6b5a4f84#v4-45

It was a piece of crap. The transmission was having a difficult time going into gear, shuddering, and a loud ass exhaust. I told the guy what was happening with the transmission and exhaust... he was like "huh what... I don't feel it... what exhaust... it sounds normal to me". Very dis-honest guy. This guy though can really shine a turd, I will give him that. If you look at his pics, it really did look that good.

Well my question is for the trim on the cup holders, the door trim, and keyhole. Normally, it has a rubbery material that covers it and it peals off during normal wear and tear. This cars I am guessing, they removed that coat and spray painted it?!?!? Don't really know what they did but it sure looked better than the pealing crap in my car. Has anyone here done anything to fix that? or how it could be fixed? BTW I am guessing it was painted because if you looked at the cup holders, it didn't have the sign you normally have there.

I removed all that rubber from my Auqumarine 93. Theres really no replacing that stuff from what I could find. I guess in a black car you could plastidip it, but good luck trying to match any other color

And so what it had a loud exhaust... most people build their own sound anyway, easy fix thou not cheap. Someone could've just deleted the rear cans on it, did you look under it?

I know it's a glossy material underneath but on this one, it had a matte finish to it. I am just trying to figure out how you would achieve that look and feel.

It's a Lincoln, I shouldn't be able to hear the exhaust when I am normally driving. And no, I didn't look underneath the car because I had already made-up my mind about not buying it for several other reasons. There was a lot of cover ups he had done that I noticed, who knows what else I was not able to find.

It's bringing in a pretty penny right now to be a POS. If someone from out of state buys it and has it shipped to them or w/e, they'll probably be upset by the sound of your description.

It's been repainted..being a Florida car it probably saw lots of sun. I'm sure the interior trim has been touched up or stripped and repainted.

He is asking about 3 grand too much.

I think I'd be lucky to get 6 for mine, and mine would only sell to someone who wanted a custom look and mods, but I wouldn't sell it for 6 anyway... so whatever

You could easily spend 6k on a Mark, but that's with adding things and doing repairs to an already purchased car, so I agree.. if you were to spend that much on one it should be 100% straight and NOTHING wrong with it

how do you know it was repainted?
also, those headlights look great. can't have seen that much sun...

I got my last '98 LSC with that kind of miles on the clock for $3200. Main problem was a ratty drivers seat and that was it.

He is way overpriced thats for sure!

Lol I know..two threads in a row about the repainted thing..but again no sticker on pass side door jamb, whoever repainted it was smart enough either remove or tape off the trim tag on drivers side door jamb..painters are notorious for doing that to make it "look" factory but when you look up close you can see the tape lines. Plus the dead giveaway is the overspray all over everything behind the grille, there's one pic where its very apparent.

Damn KeVIIIn, you do have eye for these things. It was repainted on the passenger side (apparently it was keyed) and the paint job didn't look all that bad either. Smooth as glass also. I called him up before I headed down there to buy it. He said there was nothing wrong with and I intended on paying him 6K (or that was the agreement) IF it was mint.

We did buy this one though

The only thing wrong with this is the power tilt/teloscoping. My brother is on it though. So KeVIIIn, anything you see in this one...lol. (I hope not:shifty:)

And that is why I will never buy a car without seeing and driving it now. BTW the whole headliner was ripped up but you don't see a pic of that now, do you. So how does a car that looks that good have a messed up headliner like that. Like I said, he really did polish a turd nicely.

i talked to this guy before i bought my mark and he told me that his price id somewhat firm i think he wanted 7995. Like trippen out said that guy can go you know what

he had another one listed for sale months before this one it was also white but i think it sold already

Yeah it was collector edition, which you can see in the back. I did see it over there also but it was sold. Looked good but then again looks can be deceiving.
