So I just picked my car up and notice the passenger seat is about half way foreward so naturally I hit the switch to move it back and it wont go. Figuring it was stuck I get out and go over to inspect it.
It moves foreward and back and up/down just fine and the autoglide brings it foreward but when you move it back it stops at the half way point. There is nothing in the track and I can hear the relay click when I try to move it but it just wont go back any more. There is only 6-7" between the seat and the glove box.

Any ideas? I have also unpluged it and pluged it back in after a bit and its still stuck. :(

Mine was doing the samething and then it just quit working. It does everything but move forward and backwards and the auto glide doesnt work either. I was told the motor had burned out and i needed to replace it(this was at a Ford/Lincoln dealer).

Swap the seat bracket over from the evergreen one.

Well I was hoping it was a simple fix but I hadn't even thought of that!
Guess that finishes off tomorrow afternoons to do list!

You guys are freakin geniuses! :D

FWIW, the passenger side seat on my '96 would intermittently become inoperative. The last time it went out, I dove in trying to find the cause. After checking everything and troubleshooting power wires, next thing I know it's out of the car and almost completely disassembled. LOL

I then took the track assembly and fitted it back in the car and wala, it worked! Then it was just a matter of assembling everything back together. I never did find what was wrong, technically. I presume it was just a couple bad connections in one of the umpteen harness connections for the seat.

My driver's side seat on my '96 did that with me a couple of months ago. At one point, the autoglide function would only bring the seat back halfway. And I couldn't get it to move at all. I had to drive it 20 miles home that way. Knees in the dash. Then, for some reason, it just started working fine again. And it has worked fine ever since. Knock on wood.

Fixed it. The sensor on the center motor is broken.
