Painting a grill..help

I recently bought a mclaren grill unpainted .I have a 05 black ls, How would i go about getting paint for it and what is the most effective way of painting it.

+1, if it was Metallic Frost or some thing else I would say take it in but black is easy to match yourself.

I tried one first. but my paint is a tricoat. I'm no good at painting I guess. I was so embarrassed by my job that I bought another surround to bring to the body shop

I used a little bottle of touchup (well, one bottle of the basecoat, and one bottle of the mid coat)from the body shop from when they repainted my hood. I didn't know I needed to thin it from there. My bad, but I learned a good lesson about auto painting!

I thought of getting the Base 2003-2005 grille and color match the chrome surround to my car since I do like the black waterfall affect but I hate the chrome :/

has anyone ever painted the entire grill color matched? I am kinda curious to see what it looks like - on black preferrably. I wonder why everyone always paints the actual surround on the grill instead of the grill and claim they are painting the grill???? it seems everyone leaves the verticle slits stock?

People paint the entire McLaren grille. We leave the center alone cause on most cars especially lighter colored ones color matching the entire grille looks like crap. The stockers will look like dirty but hole if the entire thing was painted.

Just cause you dont use the entire sheet of paper dont mean its not a painting.

Almost what I was thinking...just I thought the color match surround of the gen 2 grille was better than the gen 1 grille.......

Especially on my silver LS....

The full surround of the second gens do look better than the partial on the first gens but regardless is the way both should have come! Or at least a option or maybe even having them come with the sports package. Would have made sense since they do away with the chrome bumper trim on the sports also.
