Painted b-pillars

The windows are dark. I have the Lumar Platinum Plus 35% on all the windows, then on the back three I have 5% over the Platinum Plus.
When the sun is out it tends to show a lot of reflections.

Thats nice, is that window all the way into the door? I ask cause I thought it could go all the way down if the motor let it but someone contested to that...hahahaha!

As a matter of fact now that I think about it, it went all the way down one of the times my motor went.

I like the look of that painted pillar!

Nice job o1lssport of photo documentation. I’m sure everyone will reference it for years to come.

Very very nice looking. It's how they should have come from the factory if you ask me. It looks to busy with non tinted windows and the gaping black pillar. I prefer a dark window tin to make the whole top look like a solid black mass. But this method looks really good too.

Is there not a way to order OEM paint and clear coat?

i'm looking into replacing a few of mine as they are dented significantly (how, i dont know) and was looking at previous posts:

GaryGhost says that LSK sells the replacements (not just the overlays) but i couldnt find them on the website. Does anyone know if LSK still sells them and if now where i could get them from? Thanks.

Shoot me an email and I can work with you on getting the OEM replacement b-pillars.

im not sure if im quite ready to drop the cash for a set of new ones. Im going to try and find some from a junk-yard and get all of them repainted. But if i decide to go for some new ones, i'll be sure to get them from LSK. Thanks, you're always helpful.

bumpy bump.

im looking to replace my driver side rear door pillar. as its bent in, from an obvious tool used to pry the driver side door open. maybe the previous owner locked the keys in the car or its been broken into..

anywho.
my question is.. why take the door panel off, and detaching the window motors and stuff? it looks like a simple, pull off the door trim, slide off the weatherstripping, and remove the pillar panel and replace. are there actual screws holding the pillar panel on or something? im a little confused.

If you look closely there are screws behind the weatherstripping, looks like three of them.
Without the glass being able to drop all the way down you will have a hard time loosening the bottom screw.

Good luck.

ahhh!!! i see now, crikes! more workk sheesh. lol, big thanks for the tut its gonna come in handy ;)

I've had the door panels and window bits out several times....it's not hard at all and very simple.

You could also just mask them up and do them on the car.
Just throw large plastic all over the rest of the car to avoid over spray.

Nice job!

I found that a power buffer and polishing compund will buff off all the oxidation to make the old ones look like new again.

tape lines almost always show, if your going to go through the time of painting multiple layers of multiple steps, then its really not that much more work to remove VS properly taping everything off.

i would say if your just going to do it with a rattle can, then tape may be good enough for you, but if your going to spray it properly, then there is no question about pulling the parts.

In case any of you are ever looking for large plastic because you are painting something on the LS,
call your nearest local moving company in town and ask if you could trouble them for some used
large king or queen sized mattress bags.

Moving companies are NOT supposed to re-use them and most often on unpacks the crews brings them back for the dumpsters.

They should be able to provide a few free used mattress bags, they are clear plastic and you cut them at the seams
and they make for large clear canvas sheets to cover over the car and mask around where you wish to paint.

= No Over Spray
