Chances of a second thermostat being bad, is zero to none.

chances of the system needing a good bleeding?

90%

Go to TECH ARTICLES at the top of the page and down on the left click on Draining the LS cooling system and read about bleeding system by QUICK LS.

and no shortcuts. Follow each step precisely. And when it says fill the cooling tower with coolant? Make sure you fill it to the brim/as full as it will go. Otherwise, you'll leave room for an air bubble to enter and cause random overheating.

same problem is common, i just had it, i actually bled the system, rode around fine for a few days then the problem began to return, then i re-bled it and no problems since.

If it still happens after you replace the t-stat you might need a new cap for the degas bottle.

hey guys i drained the cooling system and bled the system and its been running perfect since thanks for the advice on just draining the system it saved me alot of time and a lil money

Good job. IF it begins to randomly overheat again. (its possible), then simply rebleed one more time. Many people think a thermostat replacement cured their issue..when in fact, it was the bleeding process involved with the t-stat replacement, that was the cure.
